does anyone know the color code for the Yamaha stuff for the '06.
Sparky, I use PPG Deltron formula #114042 for '06 racks. It's a pretty close match... Don't buy it unless you know what you're doing, however...

hint: it's $38 a half pint plus you'll need reducer and clear and hardener and a good spray gun... :dribble:

I generally whack the living hell outta my side bags so I've got quite a few dings, scars, and now a hunk of white paint or something on the bags. I'm at the point where I'd like to do some touch up painting. I got the appropriate paint and would like to hear what some of you have found to be a good technique. If no one answers this post, I intent to clean the area with mineral spirits, apply the touch up paint as sparingly as possible, let it dry, and then rub away with auto polishing compound. That sound reasonable? Thanks. Jim
If you don't mind spending a little extra money, ask your local car dealers who their "scratch man" is. These guys are usually independent contractors who travel from one dealership to another fixing scratches and paint blemishes on used (and sometimes new) cars before they are sold. These guys are true masters at making invisible repairs. It is much cheaper to use them than to get total re-paints. Their trucks or vans usually have paint mixing capabilities so they can perfectly match paint colors.

I have a list of those who operate in Marin County, Calif. (just north of San Francisco) for those interested.

I actually found that a lot of the scratches came out with, yup, scratch remover. Bought Novus #2 at Morton's BMW. #1 is polish, #2 is light scratches, and #3 is deep scratches. Used it on the bags and it got out 95% of the scratches by itself.

Thanks for the tip - makes sense to talk with someone who does "scratches" for a living!

Jim
