Painting a Matte Black Givi Lid

Can a textured matte black givi lid be painted another color and still look good? Any tips on getting this accomplished?

I've done a few matte lids. I usually wet sand them down with 320 paper and then spray a good coat of epoxy primer on it. Wet sand again and then color/clear. Comes out pretty nice.

The difference here, I think, is you know what you're doing and you're also good at it - to my understanding. Thanks for the info.
