I have a pair of rectangular bright flashing led blocks (like 0,5 inch x 1 inch) that can stick on either side of your plate.

they flash with your brakes.... and keep flashing with your brakes applied (e.g. they are 'dumb')

you can attach to brake wire as they draw very little current.

I think they were $25, you can have them if you pay $6 shipping.
