Pan’s and Escape’s most excellent adventure

Meet up with George at the Smokey Point rest stop and took the obligatory here we go picture.

First days route

Riding 9 from Nooksack to Suma, what beautiful morning! Great Way to start a ride.

We took BC’s 1 thru Hope up to Cache Creek following the Fraser River away.

Note how full the river is, more on that later.

We fueled the bodies and bikes at Cache Creek.

Then headed for Prince George on BC’s 97.

It was raining a bit so we decided to camp in a motel.

Next morning we headed up (16) the YellowHead Hwy to the Stewart-Cassiar Hwy (37) to Stewart.

Another nice morning.

Got into a little rain with more to come at the end of the day.

A couple for the Lady’s.

Start to sprinkle again so put on the Tour Master Rain gear. More about the gear later!

Anybody tell you before that BC is Big?

Just about to take a right.

Just after the right on to 37.

And up the Stewart-Cassiar Hwy.

Glad it wasn’t wet as this is a wooden bridge.

I said big right?

Must be a bugger not to be able to put both feet on the ground!

Right after we turned it started to rain but Stewart is close now so no big deal.

I’m sure we missed out on some of the beauty but I like what the clouds do for a picture.

The next morning look what we found.

And tourist’s

Stopped at the Glacier Inn for breakfast.

Then asked to get;

And they told us it was too early!

So we left UnHyderized headed back towards Stewart.

I stopped on a dock between Hyder and Stewart.

Loading ore on to a barge.

Time to head north.

The Bear Glacier again.

Meziandin Lake.

And on up the Dease Lake/ Stewart-Cassiar Hwy.

The morning was overcast but still great viewing.

Dam rain drops on my lens!

This even stopped old George.

Caught one of the Tribes also from Washington.

A bit of construction and gravel.

Lots of good picture opportunity's.

Came across a Jade City so we stopped for a break, even bought my wife a little Jade Turtle necklace.

I guess this big burn shut down the road for awhile a month or so before we got there.

We saw lots of the local Native picking Mushrooms and selling to buyers as we drove thru the burnt area, must have been twenty mile long.

The Yukon.

Went on in to Watson Lake and set up camp.

It stayed light out all night to! I didn't get to run my Bi-Pap so woke up a lot,

it didn't get close to dusk even.

Three Days 1,363 miles, looked something like this;

Got up on day four kinda cranky, didn't know how to set my air mattress so I tossed and turned, stayed light out all night & couldn't breath. Besides that George went to bed early that night and I stayed up and mixed beer and some kind of Canadian Whiskey & wandered around camp. I ran into a couple of lady's from Vancouver that got Triumph of Canada to give them a couple of the their adventure bikes for a forty five day free ride. These lady's were well out fitted, they had Jesse bag's & nice gear. Sucks being sixty and male.

Oh well, after the crappy two minute shower I kinda felt better and off we went.

First we went and had a good breakie at Kathy's and the went to sign city.

Place is huge, found were I was hatched.

Headed south the next day.

They mean this to!

Another great day for riding, just enough cloud cover to keep it comfortable.

Oh gee another bear, at first I didn't think I would see one! Glad I didn't meet one!

I did say BC is big?

O/M wanted food **** so he can have old goats.

One of my disappointments was passing Laird Hot springs and going to Fort Nelson to spend the night. I think George was in a hurry to get home to his new to him 09 Black beauty.

Next time eh George? What's that you say the Arctic Circle?

Next days route headed for Fort St John.

You can run this pretty hard as they have the roads cleared way back.

We decided to go check out the Peace River Valley view. Look at George’s new gear.

The view point and lovers leap?

Then we went to the car wash, an indoor one! The gal taking the money said they shut down when it get to minus 30 C.

Still sorting through my pics...we'll see what I can find to add to the adventure.

Fantastic trip with a great partner. We covered a lot of ground until the weather turned on us with heavy rain, temps in the low 40's and winds matching the temperature.

Great report Kevin! Already making plans for another north of the border ride! This time on an adventure bike.
