My friend Chris Ogden (IBA # 455) is putting on this rally. I highly recommend it and plan to be there. It will be a lot of fun and you should check it out for a great time:

Greetings,

The BMW Club of Southern California, in association with the Southern California Motorcycling Association (SCMA) announces the 2011 Park 'N Ride Rally on October 29, 2011. The Rally is sponsored by BMW Motorcycles of Ventura County.

The Park 'N Ride Rally is an easy-to-complete day ride to some of the most interesting places in Southern California. Designed for those who have never entered a rally before as well as experienced riders, we have two classes: a Novice class where you only have to cover 100 miles and go to 3 bonus locations to be a finisher, and an Open class which is for more experienced rally riders, or those who like a challenge. We've designed this rally so it won't matter if you are coming from San Diego, Bakersfield or Santa Barbara. You can start near home and won't have to travel long distance to complete the rally or be competitive. New for this year there will be a base route you can follow as well. You do not need to ride a BMW motorcycle to enter!

-What: The Park 'N Ride Rally

-Where: Southern California, start point wherever you want!

-When: Saturday, October 29, 2011. Start whenever you want, but no earlier than 7:00 am, and you must reach the checkpoint by 3:00 pm to finish.

-Why: An 8-hour bonus-hunting event, and all finishers receive the SCMA Traveler's Award

-How Much: For the top three finishers in the Open class, $300-$200-$100 gift cards for merchandise from BMW Motorcycles of Ventura County! Entry fee is $20, with discounts for being an AMA member or SCMA affiliated member.

I'm all registered for this. It will be my first rally but I'm going to be treating it more seriously. Even though the Novice class doesn't require timed receipts I'm going to do all of that. Sounds like I don't even have to decide if I will be Novice or Open classs until I get my rally pack.

Very exciting stuff for a noob like me. :)
