Passed a honda ST 1100

I had considered a honda ST at one time after reading reviews about the bike. It is supposed to be a pretty fine peice of machinery, and I am a big fan of Honda.

Today while riding to work, I passed an ST 1100 :dribble: and man am I glad I got the FJR! :wub:

Man that Honda is ugly, I guess it is a good bike, but it looks like a giant scooter, or maybe a mentally handicapped grasshopper... no an alien anal probe... I don't know, it's just ugly, and seeing on the road really verified that.

Well, if you were shopping new bikes, you would have been looking at an ST1300 vs. your FJR, not the ST1100 so you're comparing old vs. new.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but the ST1100, while certainly looking a bit dated, has a classic look about it that I think is quite attractive. I doubt either the FJR or ST1300 will look as good ten years from now.

Nah, they're nice. The FJR is just nicer.

Different strokes for different folks - but the FJR is the winner.

I rode this past year with a couple of Canadians...one on an ST1300. Man that thing was ugly with the bags off!! And it sounds like a sewing machine, too - or a scooter from the Jetsons.

Old & tired comments for sure...but oh so true.

Well, if you were shopping new bikes, you would have been looking at an ST1300 vs. your FJR, not the ST1100 so you're comparing old vs. new.

Mark, I agree with you. I have an 05 FJR and an 06 AE plus a pristine 1991 Honda ST1100(my first Honda) and I really dig the ST. I fact I like it high speed slab gearing more than either of my FJRs. IMHO, the ST do everything well but it is just not as quick in all aspects as the FJs. Still is a pleasure to have in my collection. Its a keeper for me.

I owned a 93 ABS. The old ST has a loping, relaxed, brawny, never-breaking-a-sweat feel to it that is completely absent from the FJR and submerged under a turbiney, antiseptic whiney feel in the new ST. Both the new bikes are much faster and handle much better, but the old ST has a charm and honesty that is quite engaging. I still recall an exilerating ST1100 ride across I-90 in Montana (when "reasonable and prudent" was in force) at 110-120 mph nearly border to border and the thing just shrugged it off llike I was going to the corner drugstore.. I don't think any motorcycle since has matched it's anvil-like reliabllity and longevity.

As you can tell, I miss mine and am happy to hear you're keeping yours.

It may look a little dated, but its a great bike.

I had a 91 ST1100 and put 150k miles on it and loved every mile.

Sorry guys, but I looked at an ST1300 and refused to sit on it for fear someone would photograph me.

Had a Yami 50cc step-through the very first year they hit USA, yes it was 1966. My 50cc had more style.

I get horny, but ain't doin' no ST1300 (unless it's a rental!).

I looked seriously at the ST1300, but then I realized that when those 'Independence Day' kinda aliens with the tentacles show up, that's what their going to be riding....

And I don't want to look like no goddamned alien.

Brits sound like sewing machines. Canadians sound like refrigerators.

I sold my '99 ST1100 (a.k.a. Pan European...ST1100P is still the most prevalent police m/c in the world) to get my '06 FJR. The ST design was 10 years old when my bike was new, so, yes, the look was "frumpy" by sleek FJR standards. ST1300 (one test ride was enough) looks like The Official Motorcycle of Overweight Girl Scouts.

Fine...don't care 'bout them peeps...

I have no problem if people want to use the ST1300 as a sporttourer...however as styling goes its one fugly bike. uke:

Moped #1 FJR #10 Remember it is not what you ride, its that you ride, got the ST because it was out before the FJR, I ride with two FJRs and we all have the same amount of fun. Now when is the Kaw going to be out?
