Well, the schedule he originally had was extremely aggressive. Too bad he is behind, but there is only so hard you can push and still be safe.

SkooterG and I just got back from meeting Tony for his Mexico crossing. Tony made up a lot of time on his Coutts to Algodones B2B and it sounds like he's now somewhat back on schedule. He's headed back north to Coutts to finish the B2B2B and BBG3K. Then plans to continue on his 10/10ths. He's got that thousand mile stare, but he looks great, and sounds energetic.

We met up at the indian casino just north of the border:

Then went into MEX for a gas receipt and to sign Tony's witness forms:

We then saw Tony back into the U.S. after which Skooty and I went in search of some real Mexican food. Ate at a little mom & pop taco stand while a somewhat sketchy local "watched" our bikes. He offered us young hookers and booze but Skooty didn't want to lose his virginity that way  .

This place had amazing tacos:

We saw this place on the way back to the bikes, but they only had girls so Skooty didn't want to go in:

It was great finally getting to meet Tony - that crazy bastard. Good ride for some most excellent mexican food too. And beggers can't be choosers - so it was Gigi for my riding partner. And once again - proof positive Gen IIs are total POS's: Gigi's 08 was puking coolant and his rear tire was down to 10 psi!

And we only had to dodge a few bullets from the banditos.

Atta Boy Tony!!!!! It's unfortunate you had to suffer Scooter in order to make it happen though.

Just think of it as a bad dream and eventually you will divest your memory of this most unfortunate event ;)

Sending good thoughts my brother.

Tony probably has had a few hallucinations from lack of sleep, so maybe he can write the Scooter experience off as one of those. Hopefully he will not have any PTSD from the meeting.

I am back after attending the EOM in Kentucky.

Thanks goes out to Craig (CraigRegs), my sister, Greg (Good2Go), and Greg (SkooterG) for going above

and beyond to witness for me.

The ride in a nutshell:

The first BBG to Iowa went off right at 22 hours on schedule. Then a whimp replaced me on the seat

as I entered Minnesota. He got cold and called the ride and pulled into a rest stop for a long snooze

and actually called my father in northern Iowa to make plans for an extended visit. BUTT on the way

up to the next exit... I regained control from him (Must have been the sun) continued the ride out west.

I used the BBG to motivate myself. Once again in the Montana Mountains, that whimp took over. The

(*&)&^$ actually got a motel, feeling the mountains, cold and wet night combined with roads with bends,

were too much. He actually called Greg (Good2Go) and quit the ride a 2nd time- before I grabbed the phone

from him, and Greg convinced me to at least try.

I rode north through Helena, MT to Coutts for my start. Down to Mexico and met up with Greg and Greg.

It was an honor to meet the 2 IBR vets. It sucked having to depart Mexico while the 2 of them enjoyed

food. I would have enjoyed staying and talking and the thoughts of Mexican food haunted me all the

way back to Canada. I trashed my turn around time (Break til the 24 hour mark) and departed after a

sub at a gas station for a receipt. I finished the B2B2B and headed out to California (Taking my option "B"

route instead of the extended route)

In California I had some lights installed. I went south for easy riding before heading to Iowa to complete

the 10/10ths in 8 and a half days. Stayed in motels the last 3 nights and took it easy.

I'll write a RR later- I promise it will be short. :p

Good to hear you're home safe. What a ride! I wouldn't sweat it about that wimpy guy...sounds like he was talking sense when he needed to.

Have you let that thing sit still at all this summer??

I don't think I have seen anyone get that many Big certs in one year, way to go :D

Fantastic! looking forward to the ride report! Make the report as long as you want to!! Some of us are stuck in desk chairs waiting for the chance to attempt just a fraction of what you accomplished! Congrats!

Phillip

Tony, your an animal! I wish I could have made the ride with you earlier this summer.

Keep it up and be safe.
