Hello,

Has anyone had their pc 111 lose the map and were you able to just do the reset, to correct this?

I removed it from my bike this morning and theother day i was looking at the web site and it appears that you can download the firmware and also reset this...

Just want to see if it is possible-- need to sell this thing- so need to get it ready....

Thanks Mike

Never had mine loose it's map. Why not just load a base map of 0's if you're just trying to clear your map out?

Basically, I had it connected- one day I road it was starting to rain, wouldn't start, trouble shot down to removing this- bike started.

never bother to reconnect it.... so since I sold the hole shot system, have this to sell...

Just want to check it out first....

Thanks Mike

I have already removed it from the bike, can I just use the 9 volt cannection to make the changes?

Thanks

They can lose their map. I had mine disconnected while I had the tick fixed. Lost the map and had to start all over and install the base map first. Then I could go and install a custom on the dyno.

So, do you know if while off bike, can I reset/ this using the 9 volt battery?

Thanks

Mike

I haven't tried it, but I believe that will work as you can load maps with the bike turned off completely by using the 9V battery. The power to the PCIII comes from a 12V ignition switched source.

You can load a map with the battery attached. Is that what your asking? I do that even with it installed in the MC.

Yes that is what i was asking, also do you know if you can reset it and re download the firm way to it, basically turning it back to a new in box setting?

thanks ...

Iam looking to reset then sell this one.....

I have experienced this before, as have many others on many different brands of bikes. I've also had long discussions with DynoJet on this issue. Here's what they said:

To give a simplistic explanation, you can consider the PC-IIIusb to be a small desktop computer (which it is, in many ways). Well, on occasion, there is a need to re-boot your computer when a program "hangs" or the computer otherwise stops working properly. You re-boot the PC... life is good again.

The same thing can happen (albeit infrequently) to the PC-III. You simply "re-boot" the PC-III, and everything is as it was before. This information is even included on the DynoJet website, under "FAQs". Here is the germane comment:

To "Reset" the Power Commander, go to the "Tools" menu and select "Environment Options." In the Environment Options screen, hold the control key (Ctrl) down on the keyboard and hit "R". This will bring up a "Reset Power Commander" button. Select this option and let the software reset the unit. After the unit is reset the error should go away. In most cases the Power Commander can be reset and the error will go away, but if that is not the case, than the unit may need to be sent in for testing.
Once you have the PC-III "re-booted", now you need to re-upload the map you were using, and life will be sweet again.

Just curious, why would you sell it?

Once you get a good map for your bike it transforms it. It made all the difference on my '05.
Because, I sold my exhaust system, other things and just need the money for something else...

I will give a good deal on it to someone though....especially if they want to fool withthe resetting process.
