Since an accident that I unfortunately had at this year's EOM, it looks like my FJR will be totalled (just waiting on the finalization from my insurance company).

I have my eye on the new black 08 version just as soon as I can get my hands on one.

I had a PCIII from my previous 06 that was undamaged from the get-off that will work exactly the same on the 08. The thing that I am not sure about is at what point would be the best time to install the PCIII? Should I wait until the after the break-in period or is it ok to install it right away? I have only purchased Power Commanders for older bikes in the past - never new.

Thank you.

If you are getting an 08, I would wait to install the PCIII to see if Yamaha truly "fixed" the issues.
Concur-See if you have any issues (either known or unknown) before making any changes. Personally I'd give it a few thousand miles before installing any modifications. Non-performance mods such as CB's, GPS, etc are another story. Best of luck. Ron

If you're sticking with stock cans, header and breather, I concurr.

If you plan on slapping on aftermarket toys, I see no reason to hold off. Just stick with the stock mapping when you first install it and then dyno it (or download a map from the manufacturer of your toy(s)) when you farkle it.

I told you that PCIII was mine for the pain and suffering of watching you wreck :p

I knew I should of de-farkled the bike on the spot :assassin:

Wait to see the new and improved mapping and throttle control for 08. Then give it to me. :yahoo:

Kevin,

You are too much, man.

I heard the 08 was the exact same bike, only with 4 extra pounds due to the new ABS brakes. Were they suppose to due any smoothing out of the current model?

I am seriously thinking about Remus Hexacone, though.
