Very nice, Jill.....but you're NOT done!

There's still the 4500 watt generator to run the air conditioning, the microwave, the blender (for adult beverages) and the coffee maker in the morning....and the air compressor for changing and charging tires. :yahoo:

Congrats to Andy, I like the toys he buys for his wife!

"Oh, Jill, look what I bought for you!"

heh-heh-heh-heh-heh-heh-heh

What a clever bloke that one is. ;)

Thanks all, for the vote of confidence. Must admit to just a little buyer's remorse with both the truck and the trailer. We had made a very sensible financial plan for the next few years, then blew it not once but twice. So, in answer to all the cynics to doubted that this will be the last toy for a while, we have a very good reason ($$$) for not buying anything else.

FjrVfr - is a vehicle addiction a problem if you're enjoying it and don't want to quit? We enjoy what we do and only spend time with similarly addicted people. Even passed on the gene to our daughter, although she's a four-wheelin' kinda gal. I absolutely refuse to admit that I have a problem! (How's that for denial?)

Bluesman - More desert time is definitely a dream but we're doing pretty well so far. My job requires me to work every other weekend. That means I get a long weekend off, every other weekend. Since September, we've camped every other weekend with the exception of two. And one of those was was a street ride with the FJR peeps, to Death Valley.

AllNight - Sounds like a great plan. What will you do with the kids while riding the FJR during your camping trips? If your significant other has to babysit, you might start thinking of some compensation. Or perhaps sharing the FJR time. How do you feel about watching the kids while she takes the bike out for a few hours?

JBurleigh - dream wife maybe, or realistically very expensive one. Every time Andy wants a new bike, or a farkle, he not only gets it but has to buy something similar for me. He also has twice as many bikes to maintain.

Chris D - Seven bikes in our trailer is a bit ambitious. There were actually three truck/trailer combos there. We can do two big bikes and three smaller one. Should be plenty for the two of us, ya think? It's great to have the option of taking a choice of bikes.

Mojave - The photos were taken at Freeman properties, which is adjacent to Ocotillo Wells OHV park, in the Anza-Borrego area. Come on down, anytime we're out there.

FJRChooser - The only farkles on the girls' desert bikes involve seat height. None of us have the height needed for dirt bike riding. I chose the Honda almost exclusively on seat height because nothing else in that class would give me more than a pointed toe down. If you're thinking of going orange, drop me a PM and I'll put you in touch with Andy, who recently got the 450 and loves it.

Kaitsdad - thanks for the truck farkling link. There's another road we don't need to go down! I had wondered about a step, since getting in and out is a challenge, especially when tired. We could also get a lighted flagpole, but look at the trouble that got us into last time. and we still don't have a light.

Patriot - Stayed at a motel 6 once before, on the bikes. The trailer is 100% more luxurious, and ours is just a basic model.

Uberkul - Thanks for pointing out that FODS has been changed to my weekend off work. I passed by the original thread, because I had to work that weekend. Now, it looks like a distinct possibility. For the riding available, would it be better to bring our light DS or the heavier GS's?

YnotRide - That is a cool looking rig you have there. Would look nice parked next to ours sometime.

MM2 - Who needs to add a 4500W generator? We have one on board. Fires up from a switch in the galley.

And to all, if you have the desire and the means to camp in the desert, you're welcome to pull up a patch of sand with us. Next trip out will be Friday 9th until Sunday 11th. A lot of relaxing, a little riding, time spent with the dogs and lots of fun. Drop me a PM if you want to come out this weekend, or any other. We'll be making the trip every two weeks until the weather gets too hot.

I like your dog's name.

From Die Hard: With a Vengeance.

Samuel L. Jackson: Yeah, Zeus! As in, father of Apollo? Mt. Olympus? Don't **** with me or I'll shove a lightning bolt up your ass? Zeus! You got a problem with that?

Walker River looks a lot like where your hauler shots were taken. Gravel roads, rocks and sand, I would bring the light bikes, easier to pick up. ;) I think the farthest we've ever ridden is about 50 miles out from the resort. We can't out-ride the quads... they carry the snacks and drinks! :D

LOL! I like that. Would you believe that big Zeus is actually not the alpha dog? About 95% of the time, little brother Siggy runs the show. Just now and again, the big guy will bare his teeth, usually if someone has tried to steal his bed.

Desert Diva! I like that too, Michael. That could be my new name (or dessert diva).

No more toys. We're done. We've got everything we could possibly wish for (and will be paying for, for quite some time). This is the absolute last one. First time out was this weekend.

We bought the truck first. It's a 2004 F350 diesel 4x4 with crew cab and long bed. It's factory lifted and came with the towing package.

Our new home away from home is a 2006 Fleetwood Gearbox.

Siggy and Zeus gave it their seal of approval, by licking all the windows.

Only three of the bikes are ours, but the joy of camping with a group is being able to share the cool toys.

After an all girls ride.

After a weekend spent 'camping' (if you can call it that) in the lap of luxury, we may never go back to a tent again. (Unless we're bike camping, of course). Counting the days until our next desert adventure. Ten more days.....
Nice setup! I wouldn't be surprised if you've run into my brother and sis-in-law out there in the desert with their kids as they run a similar setup. They get out just about every weekend from Lake Forest...with their fellow cop buddies/families.

You should have bought a truck with some REAL pulling power....I have a 2001 Ford Ranger EDGE (oh yeah, it's a 6er!) I'll trade ya straight across...I know...I'm the generous type, I just want to see it go to someone who'd use all of that...uh..."potential". *sigh

Tempting offer but..... I don't think one, never mind both of the dogs would fit into a Ranger with us. Besides, we've got two bikes in the back of the truck right now, as well as the trailer hitched up. All ready to go, for tomorrow morning.
