Anybody know if an ohlins spring will swap out with the spring on a penske shock?

I am picking up an 06 on Sat with a Penske shock and have the oppurtunity to get the spring off of the Ohlins from an 08 FJR that I foolishly sold.

The 06 will be a little undersprung for me.

By how much? Do you know which spring rate is on the Penske shock?

Pretty sure they are interchangeable, however, if it were me, depending on how many miles the Penske has on it, I would be sending it off to Penske or Thermosman to freshen it up and put the right spring on it.

Just curious...what's the new owner of the 08 gonna do with the old Ohlins once you pull the spring off?

OK...so, we're not talking about 20-30 lbs here. I honestly don't know if they are interchangeable or not. I think the diameter is the same, I just don't know if the lengths are the same. I guess you could make up some of the difference by jacking up the preload and compression and back off the rebound a bit, but, you're not going to be able to completely compensate for it being that undersprung.

If they are interchangeable, great. If they aren't, new springs are usually under $100 or you could call someone like Race Tech, Traxxion or Thermosman to see if they have any used springs laying around.

May want to check with him to see if he did any work to the forks to determine if you'll need new fork springs, also.

po had traxxion put in an ak-20 cartridge kit sprung the same way. I plan on ordering the correct springs for those.
