I know the racetech is pretty new and the penske has got some pretty good reviews. Just wondering if anybody has had both and a have a definite preference between the two. Seems either one would be a big improvement over stock. Thanks, J.

I've ridden them both, but not owned them both. Your assessment is exactly correct. Either one is a big improvement over stock.

However, doing ANY shock upgrade without also addressing the forks is IMO an equally large mistake. The worst possible suspension is an imbalanced one.

I bought a used Wilbers and finally updated my forks with Race Tech. I noticed a huge difference in the rear end, the front wasn't too bad still stock. The bike did ok, I had no stability issues; however, both should be done at the same time for best results.

After getting the front end done, I did notice that my forks were trash compared to what I got from Race Tech.

Definitely getting the forks done also, at the very least I will be getting them re-sprung. I know on all my dirt bikes, springs made an incredible difference. Might be fun to do the gold valves as a weekend project.
