Adding avatars help personalize membership and are perfectly acceptable. Ideally, avatars should represent you in the FJR and motorycling world, but also must be be business safe. Discouraged avatars include scantily clad women, overtly biological, or severed body parts.

but, then again, i *think* i'm the one that brought on the clause 'severed body parts' with, well, a severed body part avatar...

According to the authoritative Free Dictionary, scantily means "barely sufficient or adequate." She's got boots and gloves on! That's both adequate and sufficient in my view...
