The wife and I are leaving on Saturday AM and heading down to Tampa, FL to visit some friends and we are making two stops on the way. The first will be to see friends in Norfolk, VA and we will stay the night and then leave bright and early on Sunday morning for Savannah, GA. We plan on spending the day in Savannah as well as staying Sunday night and heading out on Monday morning for Tampa, FL.

For those of you who have made a similar trip, are there any places along the way, or routes not too far off course we should look into? Are there any must see destinations? Any roads or portions thereof to avoid right now?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

James and Sloane

We were in Savanna in March. A couple things we liked was the Air museum out on I-95, a plantation in Mt Pleasant, and we ate at Paula Deans restaurant. If you're spending the day in Savanna, I suggest one of the bus tours that you can get on/off at your leisure.

Thanks for the ideas. We will have to check out the air museum which is the only thing that we didn't have on our list as of yet.

If you like air museums, you might ask your Norfolk tour guide to take you to the Virginia Air & Space Museum in Hampton, VA. That is a very worthwhile stop. They also have Imax... 3d & regular Imax.

Have fun!

That sounds like a good suggestion. I will inquire about it and see if it will fit in our schedule on the way down or way back up.
