So I spent a couple of weeks in the Philippines at Boracay Island and now I am in Bangkok for a couple weeks. The traffic in both places is what you would call a symphony of chaos. Traffic lights, road striping and street signs are only a suggestion. Its who can maneuver in front of the next guy first. Everyone drives inches from each other and they don't look twice. The motorcycles lane split, road split, they just split everything. There are thousands of bikes everywhere, outnumbering cars. Most of them are taxis. Working taillights, headlights or both are optional, even at night. Regardless, I have yet to see one traffic accident. One thing I know, I sure miss my FJR. Here are some photos to give you an idea.
This is the typical taxi in Boracay
A little too tight for me
Easier to ride behind the driver
A 400cc bike
Two weeks on this private beach was awesome
Favorite hangout
Go to the local market and pick out your favorite fresh seafood
Then take it to one of a dozen nearby restaurants and have them cook it for you.
Total cost, $10 for two people including the food.
Bucket of beer for $4
Lots of these
Rented one of these for a couple of days. 200cc largest I could get
Traveled all over the island. I know, wearing shorts ...
Why don't they have this back home. All the controls are in the handle
Now in Thailand, things are a little different. Taxi of choice. The infamous Tuk Tuk
Beautiful scenery
Water taxis
Centuries old architecture
Back in Bangkok, this is normal
Lots of bikes everywhere, some gathering dust
Motorcycle parking lot at the worlds largest flea market. Really, 27 acres, 15,000 booths.
In the mood for some Mickey D's? No worries
They deliver
Want chicken instead?
The pet market has anything you want
Thats it for now. I have hundreds more photos and videos I will post later as time permits.
