I don't know about these Philips bulbs, but if they are at all like the Sylvania Silverstars I have used, just be aware that they may not last as long as you are accustomed to.

Silverstars are much brighter and whiter than ordinary Sylvania bulbs, but they are a high performance bulb. What you gain in brightness you lose in longevity. On my Royal Star this was an unacceptable trade-off, as a bulb change was incredibly difficult with my big meathooks.

That is a fact. They will not last as long. About 1/3 as long. If you do not ride at night, or very rarely, you will be wasting your money on any bulb that isn't OEM or extended life. When on the bulb sites, note that there are extended life bulbs available. Maybe Ol Meathooks could nab some of them? :)

Absolutely true and I bought these bulbs in the full knowledge that is the case. That being said, plain jane Sylvania Silverstars up here are $23 *EACH*. So given that these bulbs are half the price and hopefully, significantly brighter (I haven't installed them yet).. their something of a deal.

Oh, btw, I went through 3 Silverstars in one season on my Mean streak.

Received mine today.

Very quick/free shipping out of the UK (just 6 days).

Won't know how they work until tomorrow afternoon.

Update. Both bulbs done like dinner within a week of each other. Stockers re-installed. That being said, I'm sure the craptacular rough roads in Sudbury where more than a minor factor in their demise. Still, stockers are still going strong.

I have the Phillips +50's in my truck and the silverstar ultras in my feej. I honestly like the silverstars better. To be fair I think the lack of extra brightness I get out of the +50's in my truck is due to the fact that they are getting their power through a plow wireing harness, and I am sure they are suffering from some voltage drop in the harness. I have considered making a relay harness and feeding power direct from the batteries to the lamps to correct this, since there's two batteries in my diesel it wouldn't be all that hard to do it, but then I saw These

Sorry to hear this.

After over a year 30k plus miles, mine are still going strong

Like I said, craptactular roads. Both times I noticed a headlight out after going over a particular rough bit - the ones that makes you say jeebuz f'n christ and you'd sell your mother for a smooth bit of tarmac. They still last longer than the Silverstars did in my Mean Streak.
