Just moved to Phoenix and planning a trip to Las Vegas in October.

Not familiar with any routes

Google maps tells me two options:

US93 through Kingman - 5hrs, 24 min

or

I-10 / US95 through Parker? - 5hrs, 56 min

Which one is more cage/family friendly?

I figured someone in this group must know the answer.

Thanks,

Rob

I'll bite, having lived in both places, and driven between both a few times. Are you looking to keep it short, or do some sightseeing along the way? Shortest route is US-93, especially since the bridge is now open at Hoover Dam (I do recommend stopping there). The I-10/US-95 route is pretty much desert two-lane once you're off the Interstate (and doesn't go through Parker) and US-95 is in pretty bad shape between Needles and Blythe. There is also AZ-95, which routes through Parker and Lake Havasu City; you can either head east on I-40 to pick up US-93 in Kingman, or head west on I-40 to cut through Bullhead City/Laughlin to pick up US-95 (you can also go all the way into Needles to pick US-95 directly).

If you want to take a more leisurely pace, and see some scenery, you can head out through Wickenburg, pick up US-89, and route through Prescott, Jerome, Sedona, and Flagstaff, then cut back west on I-40 to US-93.

Any of these routes are cage friendly. You will see some truck traffic on US-93.
