Here are some of the first photos I took on my recent trip to San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country.

More will be posted in upcoming days.

did you check out a botonist colony or what? Can't see what you took pics of.

"Yahoo! Photos is ClosingWe're sorry. Yahoo! Photos is closing on September 20, 2007 so we are no longer accepting new accounts or allowing users to upload photos if you don't already have photos in your account. We've decided to focus all our efforts on Flickr - the award winning photo sharing community that Time Magazine has even called "completely addictive". Why not head over to Flickr for a look"

..is what i see.

Mark, you always take interesting photos. I agree with wheatonFJR, the storm pictures are great. Gee whiz, all this time I thought Texas was flat and desert-like (J/K--I visited family in El Paso--'nuff sed?).

Hey Mark,

Have you gone autistic....I mean artistic on us?

Actually, nice photos on the storms moving in and cloud formations. Did you use

a polarizer to exaggerate the contrast between sky and clouds?

I consider myself, at best, a middling-average photographer. But I enjoy trying to take something more than simple snap shots. With my new-to-me Pentax *istDL digital SLR camera, I'm able to use the lenses I already had for my 35mm Pentax (bought back in 1980). There's something about the process of an SLR that "feels" better to me than the different Nikon Coolpix digital camera's I've been using over the past few years.

I've added another photo today. I have about 120 photos I took during the trip but am taking my time with picking which to upload and what post production needs to be done on each. The "storm" photos were walked on heavily simply because they would have been throw-aways as they originally came out. The trick with the others is to resist the urge to tweak them so much they "look" tweaked. The garden well was especially challenging because I saw the shot but by the time I got everything the way I wanted it composed in the camera, there were always people walking though the area. After about 45 minutes of taking different shots (tripod, same composition, different shutter speeds, etc.), the guard started to run people out of the area so they could close for the day. When he almost had the gates closed, I asked if he could open them for the shot. He was nice enough to do so and stand back, out of sight, behind the wall on the left. All the rain we've been having added some excellent textures to the image. Many of the shots have similar stories about what it took to get them.

The link has worked fine for everyone I sent it to as a test. Those who can't seem to view it might try clearing their cache and cookies and trying again. I can get to it as a visitor (not logged in) with both Mozilla and IE6.x.

SWBell... SBC... SBC/Yahoo... AT&T... Flikr is a never-ending source of challenges, but existing accounts are still being supported until the day they do the migration. They'll then lock the existing account, do the migration, and send a notification of the new Flikr account when done. That means that visitors can still view the existing albums. The advantage of Flikr is that there should be an ability to view the photo closer to it's actual size than just as different thumbnails like the current host allows (trying to sell prints instead).

I'll be adding some photos taken at Stonehenge II over the next few days.

Mark:

Those storm pictures are awesome!!! You should submit them to your local TV station or paper to see if they will display or publish them.

Thanks for sharing.
