I picked up my new bike yesterday and I love it already. I only had a chance to put about 20 miles on it before taking the family out for dinner (for the 17yo's birthday) but it was a great 20 miles. The FJR is a step (or three) up from anything I've had before and I'm already very happy with it. Now for Farkles... (oh, and I saw a list somewhere of HRF [highly recommended farkles] but can't find it again so feel free to point me in the right direction). Sliders and headlight protectors already on order.

Here's the obligatory photo (though it's in my driveway; nowhere very scenic):

Big Congrats!!!! :) I have a little over 1,000 miles on my 2012 and the smile hasn't left. Infact started to get moody when bad weather (snow) rolled in last week and didn't ride it for about a week. Nothing wrong with the pic in the driveway, it looks great anywhere.

I just so happened to stumble into the Rooster at the dealership yesterday when he was taking delivery. It's always exciting to see a new FJR owner in the area, makes for more potential riding buddies. :yahoo:

As is usually the case with FJR owners, Rooster is a nice fellow. (Before the dog pile begins - I know there are exceptions) :p But the Rooster did his homework before buying the '12 and is eager to start farkling up the bike. I mentioned that the forum was an excellent resource and he said he was already on board. So everyone join me in welcoming the Rooster to the fold!

Don't tell my 2008... But DAMN that is my favorite color!

Now go change your profile from "Other, considering an FJR",

Welcome aboard.

You're all absolutely correct; I fell in love quickly. Almost love at first sight, and definitely by the time I got to the end of my driveway (about 200'). Friggin' awesome ride, man! :yahoo:

FJRBandit, figure the odds they'd pull your bike around and behind mine as I was about to load her up for home. It was great talking to you and definitely look forward to riding together some time. I've always done my riding alone, honestly, and it'll be nice to meet some riding buddies!

And now, a farkling we will go... I think I've ordered all I need for now. Of course, "need" is a bit subjective... ;)

Oh, and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised at the color of the blue in person. I thought I preferred black but the photos really don't do the cobalt blue justice. :thumbsupsmiley:

Blue will show up much better in your photos than black. Congrats on the new ride

If I had money I didn't know what to do with, I would happily have Garauld turn my '06AE that beautiful Cobalt Blue!! Then again, if I had money I didn't know what to do with, perhaps I'd have enough to just buy one already that color...then I'd have one with and one without a clutch lever!

Enjoy the ride!!! :biggrinsmiley:

...Wow... that's nice ! congrats.now to the "list" IMHO...how tall are you ? I"am about 5'8 I, went with V-Stream ($140.00 )..if taller you might want to consider Riffle, there one of the best,OK..New windshield.. What type of riding are you going to be doing? ..touring,just blasting around?,Two-up?..For sure, one of the things to do,is to change your mirrors! 2012,you will need mirrors off FZ-1 2005 model ,,,just do it ,you'll thank me later, OK New Mirror..Boy it's fun spending your money,, Ok back to the list... Bar risers.. MCL triple tree risers(300.00) OH I,almost forgot, Crampbuster I'ts the best $10. dollars you will ever spend. Some type of cruise control?? again, it depends on riding habits,If your carving canyons, your prioroties are going to be different ,than just going up-down the high way. You can spend anywhere from $20. bucks,to over a grand for the the good one. Something you should consider,is some good riding gear.ahhh got to go back to work... some guy want a hot dog ... Larry ... Lets talk about your "list" some more, hope you have lots of money.. I thinks these guy's will spend ALOT of it ...good luck ..Oh bye the way, nice bike.

I'm actually 5'6" w/ 29" inseam. Sucks. LOL

I'll wait to see how I like the stock windshield. So far I've only had her up to about 45-50 on my local roads. Time will tell! The mirrors don't bother me but I am adding small convex mirrors. I drive with those on larger vehicles and really like being able to see more along my flanks.

I've ordered Grip Puppies and a Throttlemeister. I'll definitely need a throttle lock so I can restore circulation in my right hand, lol, though I hope the Grip Puppies help a little with that. I've also got some reflective decals and a tank protector on the way.

I'm going to do some research on bar risers, including more time in the saddle, and figure out whether I need them. We'll see. To that end (ha) we'll see how the seats feel in time. I'll likely do most of my riding solo and on different types of roads. My wife plans to go along - we'll see if she likes it. I hope she does because that will mean more/longer trips. So, of course, at some point I'll be looking closer at top cases, extra lighting, and a few electronic farkles... :p

..The risers, will help that ALOT....Russel, seems to be the seat of choice. For about $50.00 buck's you can get a pair of frame slider.cheap protection,Are you handy ? paper manuals are around $60.00,a must if you want to DYI. Larry

I ordered frame sliders and headlight guards first.

I know the risers would help with seating (leaning) but is there another benefit? Not that sitting back further isn't good, lol. I'm sure my back would like that a lot !

Sweet !!!

I almost bought a 2012 but I like the silver so went with a 2011.

Where did you buy it ?

I'm in McCalla so if you and FJRbandit want to ride let me know.
