Okay, I know it's Friday and ya'll are in a mood on Fridays :dribble: . But does anyone, or can anyone post some pictures of the interior and exterior of the side case hinges and how the rivets go through? You may recall my Feej fall down and go boom at the advanced riders course (I had an assident turning in the 20ft circle <_< ) well she's in being fixed and they took the right case apart to paint it. I read somewhere on the forum that someone else had a case taken apart for repair and they didn't put it back together right; something about not reinstalling the shims (anyway I can't find that post again). Well normally I would just compare it to the left case, but for some inexplicable reason they took that one apart to paint it too even though there was nothing wrong with it... So now I want to make sure they put the things back together right. Thanks in advance. BTW I can now turn on a dime and give you 9 cents change

Ya know, I don't remember any shims - just the placement of the hinge tab in the lid... I also checked the parts fiche and there is no exploded view to post, either. I'll check tonight and report if someone else doesn't post up by then.

I was the one that talked about the shims.

Here is were it is installed but it is more like a back plate.

They are about .030 thick made of aluminum.

and they are actually the last thing the rivet should go through so it doesn't have to pull against the fiberglass bag.

black shim is the original

green shim is the one i made to replace the missing one

I am putting a new cover on my 1st gen hard bag. I looked on the microfiche and can not find the correct size or part number of the rivet. The 4 rivets that hald the cover to the hard bag. I am at work and will be going to the auto part store and or Yamaha dealer at lunch and do not have the bag or cover with me. Does anyone know the correct size of the rivet? Thanks in advance.

I Believe that I used a standard 5/32nd rivit of around 1/4th in. long.

There is room to go a little longer and or a little fatter but not alot.

I would grab a couple of small washers to go over the tail end if you can find some that dont fit too loosly.

You might also have better luck in a heat/air supply store or a large lumber yard.

Good luck
