I'm still in, and looking forward to it. But beware:

Yes, now you too can help reduce the budget deficit in Washington State. While passing through our beautiful state on the way to Maura’s “I Fly for Pie in the Sky RTE” in Chilliwack, B.C. this weekend do take note that the Washington State Patrol begins the next round of their “Slow Down or Pay Up” campaign against speeders. Enhanced patrols to crack down on miscreants begins Friday. LINK

Thanks for the heads-up. See you there.

Argh! Yet another reason I'm feeling terrible about missing it. Dammit! Free pie is a wonderful thing...

So how was the turnout, any pics? I'm kicking myself for not making this run today, as it's only 122 miles from home and the weather was spectacular on the usually gray wet side.

It was an excellent time. Great turnout, lots of FJR's. As soon as I can get my pics posted I'll writeup a bit more. The responses from the border-guards in Sumas on both sides were priceless.

"Where's home" Vancouver, the OTHER one, the first one, the one in Washington.

"What does your license place (LDRYDR) stand for?". Long-distance rider.

"What's the purpose of your visit to Canada?". Going to Chilliwack to meet friends for lunch.

"How many friends?" About 50 from what I heard.

"Are you taking anything that you'll be leaving with your friends?" No.

"Do you have any guns, weapons, liquor with you today?". No.

"Have a good visit to Canada".

"Where are you coming from today?" Chilliwack.

"What was the purpose of your visit?". Lunch with other motorcyling friends. (three of us crossed together)

"Where do you live?". Vancouver, the OTHER one, the first one, the one in Washington.

"You rode all the way from Vancouver to Chilliwack to have lunch?". Yes sir. (I didn't tell him I'd stayed Friday night in Everett at a friends place).

"Are you bringing anything back with you that you aquired in Canada?". Yes, a piece of rhubarb-crunch pie.

"Have a good day". Thank you.

I guess he wasn't hungry... ;)

Maura,

Sorry I couldn't make this one, sounds like a good time for pigin out. Seeing your hometown prompted me to look up one of my old favorite bands "Chilliwack" and listen to some of their old tunes. Good stuff, I'll need to surf around to see if I can find a place to download their music.

Oh Good Lord no... You CAN do better!
