hey guys ~ a coupla friends and I are gonna go do a pie run in 2 weeks. this is sponsored by the Two-Wheeled Texans group and details are here:

Pie!

just thought i'd share with you. i need to get my butt back into riding shape for arkansas and thought this would be a good opportunity to get started on that. it's open to anyone, just sign in and sign up!

A pie run? Is this a get-together at the get-together? A opportunity to ride and met somewhere, eat and whatever or eat and then ride somewhere or what?

this will be my first pie run, but from what they posted on their forum, everybody rides in, eats pie, and then does whatever they want. someone mentioned riding around in the area before leaving, which could be an option after lunch. i have no idea what that area offers for roads. how long my friends and i stay depends on the heat. i will be meeting up with 2 people in mesquite on 80 at a gas station to ride the rest of the way with. if anyone else wants to join us there, that's cool too (Tejas?). i'll post more details about that later in the week when i have confirmed them.

been to two of them and people ride in, look at each others bikes and meet one another, then eat lunch and pie and head out with someone on local rides before heading home or staying the night.

I may be riding up to this one from Houston.

If I make it out there, then yeah, I wouldn't mind getting together in Mesquite to ride in the rest of the way.

Dang it! :angry2: Chik! I'm going to be in Midland that weekend. I've only got two trips planned between now and Thanksgiving, and they are the same time as the Ark trip and this one. I even live right off of 80 here in Mesquite. It would be very easy for me to do. Well, hopefully there will be another one.

GP :bye2:

if anyone is interested in meeting up for the ride this Saturday morning, just PM me. i have details worked out about where we are meeting up with other riders and when.

That's the day I wash my hair!

Actually I plan on checking coolant on Sat and flushing brake and clutch fluid on Sunday. It gets so hot, so quickly, in the garage these days that it's already 90 by dawn. Shorter work cycles in the western-facing garage.

fjrchik, you will love the homemade pies! The food is excellent. What we catigorize, today, as comfprt food. The pies are fresh, hot turnovers made from scratch. The only make so many a day and that's it. Order more than you think you will eat because you will eat more than you should. Across the street is Kitchen's Hardware. Interesting place. Part diner-part hardware. The owner rides a Harley when he can. Around the corner, there is an old hotel that serves as the community social. Live music and such on the weekends. Mineola is rather small, but retains its status as an Amtrack spot. In fact; my father used to enjoy going to Mineola when I was "kneehigh to a duck." He used to always point out the "vagabonds" riding carefree on the rails. The notion wandering without plans, liviing life as it comes, always stuck. Hence, my name. Your best riding will be north and east of Mineola. Enjoy!
