I have an insurance question...I picked up a piece of metal which got stuck in between the frt sprocket(pulley)and engine casing, and kept rubbing against the pulley spindel bearing till it ripped the bearing apart depositing metel into the oil supply messing up the motor/trans/clutch/etc. I've had 3 bikes with shafts, why I tried a belt...DUuu...

What I'd like to know before I talk to my insurance agent is whether something like this can be claimed with a positive result...THX

I'd guess probably not as what most of us have is a policy that protects against accidents and theft. But it is a matter of contract and that contract is your policy. Read it! Your protection will be defined there, and therein is your answer.

Solo...Thx for the come back....Some times a kick in the butt helps to think about the obvious.....Read the contract !

Now that I have read the policy and still don't know if it covers my problem,if there happens to be an agent on this forum that might be able to kick in here, that would be Voonderful !

I dunno for sure, but it sounds entirely plausible that this could be covered under comprehensive coverage.

Solo, and Scab....Thank you both for your input.......I went by my ins. agent(due to being retired and not having a bike to ride)with nothing else to do.No dice, not covered....It'll give me a lot of time on this forum to learn all I can about the fjr. It's a little negitive sounding in the tech type sections...but I heard the same stuff on the bmw forum when I owned my rt and didn't have any problems with it(of course I followed their suggestions,to prevent those things from happening)....Which bring me to....has anyone put out a list of tools to carry(beyond the tool kit that comes with the bike)on the fjr...I've been looking though the past post trying to find something,to no avail.......THX

monk,

the best way to search this forum is with google. use whatever terms you want to search and restrict your search to this site.

example of what to type into Google: tools to carry site:fjrforum.com

Good luck!

From your first post, this sounds like road debris damage. Some comprehensive policies do cover damage from road debris. Sometimes it's how you present the damage to the agent. It should state clearly if this is covered in the comp section of your policy. I know my car policy would cover it if I had some junk on the road do damage and I was unable to steer around it or was unaware of the damage until later on.

Good luck.

JW...speaking of tools that's a great tool for searching....THX
