Just wondering if anyone has run the B spec and what your opinion is compared to the "regular" PR2? I think weight and braking are the issue with the FJR as it is with other heavy ST bikes.

Any information from your experience would be appreciated.

South West Moto has been my tire choice for 10 years so I really like them and their prices. Customer Service is way good. They were 293.00 to the door so the B spec is a bit more but I do ride heavy on trips so we will see.

TIA for any information.

ExtremeMarine has the killer cost comparison spreadsheet on FJRiders that has the costs-including shipping- for 4 or 5 different suppliers for a bunch of different tires for the FJR. It even has the dates when the price is updated. I will not buy another tire for my FJR without first consulting that spreadsheet.

Thank you for the heads up on the list. I sometimes will stray from people I deal with but a 5 or 10 dollar discount would not make me switch from SWMoto. Sometimes customer service is worth way more than what you save.

Look around here a bit. Pilot Road 2 'B' spec vs. normal PR2 rear has been discussed around here ad naseum. My take: unless you do mainly two up riding there is no need for the pricier 'B' spec which has an extra belt in the sidewall.

As for price, I used to use SWMoto frequently also. (BTW,you know they changed ownership some time back don't you?) But I am a price buyer and last set of PR2s I bought were like $219 shipped (non- B) . I think that was from Derby Cycle. I haven't checked in a while though.

I can't give much input other than say I purchased a B spec rear and replaced the Avons with front and rear Michelins. My thought for going the extra money was I have had issues with durability due to leaks, always rear? I also thought I wanted extra capacity load wise. At the time Derby cycles had a good price but as of today considerably higher $.

The tires have a few thousand miles, the rear has done okay the front is wearing well but since day one the front has considerable road noise from the way Texas repaves their roads. I have had a few sets of Avons and one original set of Bridgestones and never had this issue.Issue 2 is rain handling, got to test on fresh rained roads and fresh mount, did not like the feel.Just lately cold weather and rain same road few thousand more on the tires and really no handling issues but memory is not fresh from the Avon days. Like I wrote not much on input but mine.

Thank you for your input ! Sometimes it's like pulling teeth.

As I could not get the proper search to get "PR2 B Spec" I thought I would ask. My apologies to the Admins once again for being stupid.

Also I was looking for someone who has run them, and figured there may be more up to date information available. Maybe more have tried them and could compare the PR2 to the PR2 B. I was looking more for solid information in the way of people who have used both rather than a discussion or speculation.

I also was not trying to push a particular vendor and I apologize for my subtitle as it was misleading in that regard. Not intended as a price thread however I am also open to new customer service oriented supplier.

Part of my digressions are I am not fully recovered from the 6 screws and rods in my C1 and C2, Atlas and Axis(which hold your head onto your spine and give you rotation)surgery 7 weeks ago. It does screw (pun fully intended) with me a bit in typing thoughts. Hell, both of me thought the first post looked ok :)

Anyway I would still like to hear from people who have used both if they would be so kind.

Dude. There is no need to apologize. And I don't get the 'stupid' comment.

I wasn't trying to be critical. I was just trying to help. This has been discussed around here a LOT. Try searching with Google, or try some other terms. There are a plethora of threads on this topic that you can learn some stuff from.

The stupid comment is from not being able to figure out search terms for single letter or digit. I think you need at least 3? I will use main search engines and let them bring me back to the site as you suggested. I am a bit gun shy as I have been reprimanded before and was "unaware" of my digression, and would not like to loose my privilege of the site before I even get to ride the damn thing! Still a '10 with 0 miles on!

Anyway thank you for the help and it makes sense as I can manipulate a search engine on the net better and let it bring me to this site.

Hello LAF,

I am on my second set both B Spec rear. Fantistick mileage tire up here in New England flatlands of Massachusettes. I think the only reason to run the B spec is hevier loads. I do a lot of 2 up riding packed beyond the limits. The pillion is precious cargo and I don't want to lose her. trying to save a buck on tires. I will be down in your area for week the end of May. Plan on doing some riding in the area of Harrisburg. Any good routes fill me in.

Hope this helped,

Dave

Greg,

Nice info but somewhat out of date. Just checked DerbyCycles and the cart came up $40.00 more than whats on the list. Just got a message from Mount Rainier on PR2's. pricing at Derby.net. $258.99 with free shipping. I clicked on the link that was provided on the list which is .com.

Or try the Google method that Skooterg is talking about, that is pinned here for your convenience and written by the board owner, and also linked when you first signed up.

Don't be gun shy about being reprimanded. Be gun shy about not looking around a bit at the great resources here to help you. ;)

9 times out of 10 when somebody asks for a link or details....a regular is using the exact tools to find it themself.

Yes confirming that my reasoning is sound to spend the extra money. As I ride solo I am always packed heavy on the road. I carry tools to do any maintenance, including a Bead Breaker and anything tire related including pump, and camping gear as a lot of times accommodation's are very varied depending the ride route. And I go about 215 in full gear. With clothing, tools, laptop, camera, and camping gear, it is not hard for me to load another 200-250 on in just that. I use Helen 2 Wheels bag/bags on the rear seat and I can haul some stuff in them!

So I think a B will be good for me in that regard from what you have said.

Thank you,

Lee
