I'll be surprised if the PR2 does better in mileage than the PR. Then again, you'd think that was the goal of going dual compound...I know they missed the mark with the Avon Storm in that regard.
I'll be surprised if they last longer than the PRs too. I'm resigned to poor mileage on tires on the XX and FJR, so I'm just hoping that they prove to be more like the Pilot Powers in performance with Pilot Road mileage in the middle of the rear tire. That'd be an ideal tire for me -- 7000 miles and nearly as sticky in the twisties as the Pilot Powers.

in another month we'll be seeing nothing but posts about how the PR-2s suck and wear fast, are expensive and cupping and how no one in their right mind would ever buy them, etc. etc. etc.

if they continue to provide me with the 10k mile durrability and improve grip, then i'd be very happy. if they stick with the same grip and bump life up to 15k then i'd be ecstatic.

just ordered a set from Ron ayers web site. 326 shipped. As long as they provide the grip that I need I am all good. It took me 6-7k to trash PP on my FZ1. If I get comparative grip and anywhere above 6-7k out of this they are worth the money spent in my book. I do not lean this beast as much as I did my FZ but it sure helps to knwo that the grip is there if I do have a crazy moment.

Gunny! Except for me, I'd be thrilled to get 10k outta the rear tire.

Definitely a different tread pattern on the PR2's then the original PR's. Looks like they are more like the Pilot powers for the rear tire sipes.

SW Moto Tires now has them -

SW Moto Tires

Set is $287.90 shipped.

Pilot Roads are $254.90 set delivered -

Delta is $33.00 - if the PR2's return just 13% more miles - 1100 miles for my usage - they are a wash - any additional range over that, and the cost per mile is less than the original Roads.

I'ma gonna hafta get me a set of these to try out -

Gunny! Might be a while for me though... the FJR is sitting still for a while until I can get it in for it's 2k late 52k valve check. Then, I'll have to burn the remaining 1k of rubber off the Storms. Oddly, that may put this storm close to 7k and the front at 12k v. 5.5k on the last Storm. :dntknw: Go figger.

I just bought PR I rear tire for $130 from my local dealer (Pro Caliber, Vanc. Wa). Will get installed day after tomorrow. Because? I still have a good 3000 on the front PR and wanted match tires? Usually the front goes off along with the rear. Got 7600 miles out of this last PR rear. Worst wear of all tires I have had ((OEM)Metzler me4, (1)Avon, (3)Metzler ME880's). Completely worn out tread in center of tire. I like to get my monies worth. Usually slows me down and I am on the way home.

Got the new Pilot Road 2 tires mounted today. As the tech was finishing up I yelled to him they better not shake at 135mph and he just smiled. When he handed me my keys he said "These tires are real smooth and your ABS works great"

The short trip I took home they felt real smooth, I better check the tire pressure, my BT020s would rattle your teeth on the bots dots. First big trip will be to Avila Beach then up Hwy 1 to home. Should be about 600 miles before I start cursing the day the Michelin Man was born, or maybe not.

Link below For a motojournalist report on them. Looks like the competition was Pirelli Diablo Strada, Bridgestone BT021 and BT020, Dunlop Sportmax D220, Continental Road Attack Z and the Metzeler Roadtec Z6

Hope you enjoy. :yahoo:
I liked what I read. Now, I need to finish remodeling so I can take my rims off the bike and take them to the shop with the new PR2 rubber to be put on that is sitting int he garage waiting to be used.

@hcycle
how strong are you cursin' the Michelin Man? Inquiring Minds Wonder?

I am trying to find something wrong with these tires but I think that will be a long time down the road. I love the way they feel but don't have the experience to explain better. I do have a big sweeping on ramp I take on my route home that I can now take more comfortably. By that I mean I can lean farther over and go faster. I can change angles easily and turn in tighter with confidence. These tires have little raised letters in the chicken strip area and I have touched them on the right when cornering and did not scrape the pegs. Could be these tires are wider or just the fact they are new and thicker so I can lean with out touching. I increased the tire pressure today to 39 in the front, was 36, and to 40 from 38 in the rear. I just might kiss the michelin mans mom for having him at this point.

10K...7K...6K.... man how do you get so many miles out of a tire? i havent found a tire yet that I get more than 4500 out of.

Certainly riding conditions and aggressiveness play a huge role, but small increases in tire pressure make a huge difference also. I'm convinced running 44 psi can double mileage vs. 38 psi.
