I just got a new set of Pr2's and I now see there is a "B" version of the rear tire. This is supposed to be for two up or loaded touring (or both). I have a set of older Pilot Roads on now without a problem two up and touring with gear (two up). What's the deal with this "B" thing? Anybody used them? And how loaded up do you have to be or how heavy set does your wife or girlfriend have to be to need the "B"s?

The "B" has an extra belt in the sidewall. I am 2 up almost all the time, and with luggage we are at max load all the time on trips. I have used both "B" and regular rear, and *maybe* I have noticed a slightly firmer ride on the "B". Otherwise IIRC both "B" and regular tire are rated above the max load for the rear share of the load on the FJR. The online tire stores usually offer a deal for front / rear sets, but "B" is not always included in the sale, so when it is I get it, but I also buy the regular one and don't worry. I do know the "B" is a M/F to mount by hand, compared to the regular.

Frankly I don't recall noticing better or worse tire wear between the two. I run 42 psi in the rear.

This guy uses B spec tires (I hope) :p
