congrats! happy scooting......yeah, I think I would have liked that as an option had it been available at the time i got mine....

Congrats on the AE, Dale. I'm glad you had the opportunity to practice a bit with the low-speed handling of the bike. See...it's not as bad as some would make out, just different. :) I 2nd the suggestion regarding the frame sliders. I bought mine used from a co-worker. He put a nice set of frame sliders on his...just after he dropped it on the right side. While there is no major damage, you'll be amazed at the sheer volume of bits/pieces that get scratched. :( Oh well...here's wishing you many happy/safe miles on your new bike!!

Cheers,

Joe

Dale, If you do some riding in the twisties and mountain roads with sweepers you will really enjoy the AE capabilities for gear braking and quick throttle roll on action. My experience has been that the more I ride the AE the more I appreciate its capabilities and quick lever free shifting. One quick tip, if you prefer to use the finger lever you can up shift(pull to rear) and down shift(with index finger push forward) with it.

You got a great deal as far as price is concerned on a really enjoyable bike, IMHO.

Are you going to get a top case? Also did you get the extended warranty. I added the 5 year warranty from Yamaha so if anything goes wrong they will take care of it. So far I got a brand new side case out of it. If you want to add a Bill Mayer seat I think you might be able to still get the 20% off if you call and ask them? Excellent bike and I see you are local. We have a group ride coming up if you would like to get away. We leave in 2 weeks and will do about 2500 miles. We are all getting our bikes ready now.... So far we have 11 people booked.

Good score Dale! I like many others here didn't have the chance to test ride when looking for a purchase. I wish I could have ridden an AE and probablly would liked it I'm sure. With all the heavy traffic in cities in CA and elsewhere, the AE has to be a plus. This bike really has to be one of the best rides out there so enjoy and welcome to the forum. PM. <>< :yahoo:

Just in case you are interested, just saw a brand spanking AE at Larsons in Cambridge, Minnesota yesterday with a tag on it for $11,447. Don't know why the funky pricing but I am sure they are trying to dump it.

Congrats Dale, glad to hear it!
Here is the G2 throttle tube:

https://shop.g2ergo.com/product.sc?category...p;productId=146

Yamaha put a cam on the engine end of the throttle cable on the 06 and 07 models. In a nutshell, it makes the first 1/8 (?) of a turn of the throttle act like 1/4(?) of a turn. (I'm guessing at the 1/8 and 1/4, but you get the idea) THe G2 throttle tube goes on the handlebar end and has a cam in it the negates what the OEM cam does, so you get a flat throttle response instead of the instant kick at the first twist.

The other thing I would suggest (and probably everyone else will offer the same suggestion) is adding sliders as soon as possible. Several folks have claimed that the sliders prevented substantial damage on a low speed tipover.

Also, I have a +4 +4 CeeBailey windshield on my 07A. They only take a couple of minutes to switch out. If you would like to try it sometime, lets switch them out and take a ride around the area.

I'm right down the freeway if you need any help with the G2 or other farkles.

I have an '07 AE and am interested in the G2 throttle tube. Question: How difficult is it to install? I have a limited amount of tools and motorcycle repair skills, but can do the basics. It sounds like it's a big improvement to the throttle.

Thanks,

Biscuit
