Here is a post by dangerousdave from the "Drag Racing" thread. Thanks DD.

His fun day at a drag strip with FJR. He is referring to tying the front down so it does not loop! I think this is a standard FJR on an 11 second pass. I guess there is no reason an AE cannot do this too!

'Definately tied down. It was pretty much a necesity and I knew that from the git-go. They were most beauteous runs too. Launched pretty hard, picked the front wheel up about 12" and carried it all the way through 1st gear. Front wheel touched down with a chirp on the shift, then picked it back up and carried it all the way through second, repeat all of the above for the next shift and third gear. Front finally stayed down in fourth gear and through the traps I went. In retrospect, I'm sure I could've gone faster with a few more practice runs (could've launched alot harder but was afraid of looping it).

Other comments

The following time slip is pretty typical -- e.t. varies down to 11.1x. I've never seen a FJR run under 11.00 or faster than 123 mph. I haven't killed my stock FJR trying for anything quicker than 11.1. Feejer launches well and runs best when shifted a bit short (~8,500 rpm). My friends have reworked the air box in several ways, added aftermarket exhausts, tried a verity of PCIII maps and the 11.00 barrier still hasn't been popped, at least by us fat old guys. Some of the younger, smaller guys that don't mind risking grenaded parts can probably run a tick under 11.00.

Sorry TT, that was about my R1, not my FJR. I haven't had the opportunity yet to take the FJR to the strip, but that day will come. B)

It is easy to make an FJR wheelie, and the 06 will do it just as easy.
I wonder if that is going to be the case.

I suspect the weight bias is moved forward slightly on the 06 due to the 2" longer swing arm, and the bike has also put on few pounds.

My guess is that the 06A and AE will be quite a bit harder to get up than the previous models, but I've seen the Wing up on one so I think it is possible.

Maybe a year from now Cycle World will show us how it's done. ;)

Thought that may have been a tad sprightly for the good old FJR. My Triumph Speed Triple is a wheelie monster, open the throttle and you better have weight forward or it is wheelieing in first and second. Can't bring myself to raise the front end more than a couple of inches on the big heavy FJR.
