Easily tries a marriage shopping for new floor...picked out pecan wood looking ceramic tile for living, dining rooms and den and halway. Same carpet in bedrooms. Already nice ceramic in bathrooms. Picked... Read More out nice, neutral ceramic for kitchen.

AIW doing OK, but grrrrr ing at each other all day with stress and decision after decision. What you want isn't always what you can afford.

State Farm will cover replacement and repairs, so waiting for adjuster to call and make the claim less deductible. And we lose our "no claim" discount for 3 years.

Women, can't live with em and can't kill em. But it's good...we never, never think or say the word divorce...never...murder maybe, but never divorce (quoting Ruth Grahmn, wife of Billy)

Will you please stop breaking things?!

Actually, this is my nightmare scenario, as I have never lived in a house on a slab before, and the pipes run through the concrete. Already told I can't replace a hose bib because the pipe under the living room could break in the process. Who in the world thought up this design? I feel for you bro'. Hang in there and buy the wife some flowers or caulk or something.

Ahh..... actually the correct verbiage is "women... can't live with em', can't shoot em'" (as immortalized by Tom Arnold in True Lies), but since you were under duress, you get a pass. Bummer about the pipe.... just about two weeks ago I had some concrete work being done and the guy running the concrete saw went deep in a spot where the main water line shouldn't have been and we had an artesian spring! At least we didn't have to re tile the bath, just fix the line and pour concrete. Sorry for your grief, oh and the broken pipe too.

Hee hee hee. I just got over "the floor in the bedroom is mighty warm in spots, and there's hot water coming up in the cracks in the garage."

Fortunately I'm in Florida, so I got the house replumbed by running the pipes through the attic. It was $1200 to destroy the garage and bedroom floors and that wouldn't fix all the problems, or $2000 to fix it for good with a replumb.

The big surprise was when my electric bill dropped from $260 to about $155 a month, and apparently I'd been keeping the ants warm for about a year. Now my water heater no longer constantly pops and burbles.

Wow. Flikr is slow as hell.

Edit: actually I had a bigger problem than just the underslab, as I had copper piping and it was developing pinholes EVERYWHERE in the walls. I already had one wall ruined.
