StainTunes, perfect bolt on replacement for stock FJR mufflers. No rivets, no mounting straps, never needs a repack (stainless steel packing) sounds great, removable baffles if you want to sound GREATER.... Don't know about the power increase because I haven't installed my PC Commander and K&N combo yet but the pipes look beautiful and sound great.
Cheers!!

I agree. I just put my Staintunes on my 05 FJR last night.

Make sure you have extra new exhaust gaskets from the dealer before you install them.

Other than that, I am riding with the baffles out of the pipes and it sounds great.

Much better than stock. Throttle response, midrange punch and lack of bucking when getting off the gas are welcome additions.

Fit and finish is top notch.

It's a 10 minute affair if you have the tools and Yamaha gaskets on hand.

And another to ther D&D list.

teerex - how are those Leo Vince pipes working? Any quality problems? Any missing parts when you got them? Did you remove the baffles? Did you rivet the nameplates on?

I just received mine from sportbikeeffects.com (a member of this site) and one of the springs was missing. Now have to wait until the spring arrives to install - really irritating!

I am at work and trying to think if there are other issues I can ask about, as I contacted the vendor this morning and have not heard anything from him yet. Ummm...is there a pipe that comes out of the end cap on the can (engine side- just looked at them briefly last night) that the pipe is clamped to?

Thanks.

comleader,

Just this minute read you post. I was on the road earlier this week.

1. No missing parts. Quality of product/finish excellent.

2. Logos were already riveted on, so I had no choice. I like them though.

3. Can't say I understand your last question. Let me try this.

Your LV slip-on kit consists of

- 2 SS pipes (about 12" long) to be clamped on the stock 4-in-2 headers (LH & RH, they are not identical). (No graphite seals are required. Remove the Yamaha ones w/out destroying them if you can and install the SS pipe as is).

- 2 Mufflers. Their forward ends fit snugly into the SS pipes and are retained in their position by a SS spring. A hook is provided to tension the spring and ease it into place.

- Baffles can be removed and - in case you want to reinstall them - 2 SS screws were included in my kit.

Installation is easy and trouble free. Before you finally tighten the clamp screws and those securing your mufflers to the frame, align everything visually and tweak your cans until they're straight. The LH stainless pipe carries a stopper for the centerstand, so you want to make sure they come into contact properly.

Thanks for the reply teerex! I looked at them closer the night I posted that message and saw how they go on the bike. I am STILL waiting for the spring from sportbikeeffects.com. Do you know if a Home Depot type store would sell springs that work? I assume they would have to be stainless steel to prevent rust.

Yes, but for a temporary fix you can use a normal steel spring or you can even wire the two eyelets together.

I'm sure BikeEffects will get the missing spring to you pretty rapidly.

Enjoy your cool pipes B)

I am assuming you have checked the manufacturers site at Staintune and you can find a good deal from our forum brother here at Sportbike Effects, he offers a discount to FJR forum members.

"Got my staintunes installed today, gotta say I'm really happy! Took the baffle tubes out right away, the sound is MUCH better than stock, it sounds like a proper motorcycle now. Not raspy or cheap sounding. Just a mellow, authoritative sound that makes twisting the throttle even more fun" from another member on the board.

I agree completely, even note quicker throttle response.. all around very happy with choice of Staintunes. Caution, change in exhaust tone makes you want to be on the throttle much more than normal,,,, just to hear that sweet sound... just a little more right wrist. Hapy New Year.

Shit,,, pulling right to 10-11k, why didn't the rev limiter kink in - 4th gear. Did i mention, i like that sound??

Now there is no excuse to not upload a picture to my Photo Gallery. You can do it by clicking here!

You guys with the Leo Vince cans, how do you feel about them now that you've had them for a while? Fit and finish still good - any problems?

Thanks in advance.

Had staintune on my beemer, been running them on my 04 fjr and couldn't be happier. look great, sound super great with the baffles out, and I know she's breathin' easier. You can't go wrong with staintunes. Ditto on buying new gaskets before you start the install. Also the bolts are not worth removing from the stock pipes. Get a set of extra metric bolts same as the stock ones, and leave them where they are just in case you need to reinstall the stockers down the road.

happy ridin'
