F1 driver Nelson Piquet is leaving the premiere 4-wheel racing series and going to NASCAR. Word is he will drive in the truck series and start the season with an ARCA race at Daytona. I hope he and Danica Patrick will be very happy together. Let's see... move from an F1 car the epitome of technology and glamour in motor racing, to a truck (yes, I know it's not a real truck). Um, I don't get it. It can't be all about money, can it? What's next: Rossi racing mopeds?

He's not French, but the name sounds French. I'm sure he'll be warmly accepted anyway...

It's not that he's leaving F1 to go to NASCAR. It's that he was booted out of F1, and anything else FIA (which means anything international.)

After Piquet-Gate, he's fortunate to have a professional driving job. Anywhere. It doesn't surprise me in the least that a NASCAR spot actually opened up for him. Pretty good commentary on NASCAR right there. I guess they don't mind the prospect of someone having experience running equipment into the wall to help his teammate.

I think it's more a sign of the poor shape that the IRL is in... Washed-up F1 detritus used to wind up in Champ Car. :)
