Guys,

The wife and I are wanting to head toward Yellowstone in September. Any good places to stay? Anything I should look for? It will be a Friday saturday and return Sunday kind of ride.

First rule of Yellowstone lodging - The further away you can stay from the park itself, the more realistically affordable the hotels.

Trail's End Motel

511 West Ramshorn, Dubois, WY 82513

It's 100 miles to the east, but get one of the little rooms along the water. Sit out on the deck and watch the water roll by. Nice little spot that I've stayed at twice.

Beyond that little jewel, I've always chosen something to the south in Jackson Hole WY. Plenty of tourist attractions and a great Mexican restaurant with open seating to Main St.

Might check VRBO.com. We found some good deals on homes and condos right out side of the park and in Jackson hole. Most require a minimum of three days, but they are actually negotiable on the price in some cases. I dealt with the owner directly on each one. Cheaper and more room than motels.

YMMV,

Ed
