First post on the new forum -

I have seen a couple of proposed ride routes on the EOM site but not which route is on which day and what time.

I am going to be riding up from Chattanooga, TN on Saturday morning, or Friday afternoon if at all possible, and heading back Sunday afternoon. If I come in Friday night I can meet up Saturday morning at the Talley Ho, otherwise I may be able to meet at a lunch break, etc.

This is either a 3-1/2 hour or 6 hour ride up, depending on the route (quick verses fun).

If anyone else is heading my direction let me know.

Thanks,

John

Hey John, the schedule isn't "solid" yet. But, I'm guessing that there will be enough of us that we'll probably have two or three rides a day, with several groups taking each route (and maybe a few undocumented ones as well). Trying to keep 100 of us together would be impossible. I'm expecting a lot of smaller groups going out at various times, some will go one way, some will go another.

In short, I don't think you have to worry about it. We'll have two or three real scheduled events (dinner, the giveaways and maybe something else), with the rest of time spent riding or socializing, depending on your personal preference (I'll be socializing at stops during the rides). ;)

I'll give the hotel a call this week and make sure there's some way to notify new arrivals of where they can go if they can't find anyone hanging around when they arrive... Honestly, I don't think you'll be able to get near Townsend without tripping over an FJR though, so it shouldn't be a problem. :)

Look in the Conference room at the Tally Ho on Saturday/Sunday. This is our gathering spot.

Smthng, please post a sign in that room as to where and when you are holding the raffle. I'll put a sign up about dinner.

I will also leave a detailed route of the Skyway so people can grab the route and find someone to ride with. Would be best to ride as a small group in these mountains (5 at the most). Anyone that has a good route planned can print up a couple of dozen copies and leave it in the conference room.

I'm leaving for EOM in the morning (no the EOM is not this weekend!) and I'm not sure I'll find internet access on my 4,000 mile ride in (just a little detour B) ).

Do people tend to have Breakfast at the Carriage House Resteraunt located at the Talley Ho Motel or is there another popular breakfast spot that would be good to meet up with other riders?

If there is a cork board or white board in the conference room I am willing to put down what time I am headed out if some one wants to join. It has been ten years since riding these roads but as long as there is gas in the tank I am not lost, just out exploring.

I'm not sure about the Carriage House for breakfast, but I don't recall seeing much else in Townsend that would have breakfast, so I'm guessing the Carriage will do. It's possible that Tally Ho (and other hotels) have a limitted breakfast, but I wasn't awake that early during my stay... the Boones Farm the night before made sure of that. ;) I'll be heading down the day before, so I'll see what I can find out.

If we don't have something in the conference room, I'll see about setting up some kind of sign in sheet or something at my room (which will be obvious - you'll see why when you get there).

For those of you who may be looking for various places to eat during your stay in townsend, there is a list of Townsend, TN restaurants here:

Townsend Eateries

I'll put this link up on a new thread. Perhaps it'll give others some more ideas.

Oh, and the Carriage House/Tally Ho site does say that it is open for b, l & d. There are a few other "greasy spoons" around, too.
