Three of us are coming out a week earlier than Red Lodge, then have another week after........ planning to find a few of your hiding spots...... last time I rode out there was in 2007, looking forward to seeing some places I missed. Kinda bummed the road up to Mt. St. Helen's is toast...... so we'll find another way......
The key Forest Service Road on the east side of Mt. St. Helens are FS 25 FS 90 and FS 99 aka Windy Ridge. All three will open this year. These road are key because they are route from the Columbia River, at Carson Washington to Randle Washington. From South to North the road order is FS 90 to FS 25, to FS 99, back out to FS 25 and north to Randle.

The section of FS 25 from the intersection of FS 99 and FS 25 to Randle is very rough, especially northbound. Go slow and your rims will survive. After Randle it is a short drive north to Auburn Washington.

The road up to Mt St. Helens is not toast. FS 23 was damaged by flooding and will be closed indefinintely but this is not a worry to FJR riders.

Awesome news. It's rough, but you can't beat the scenery

Highlights - Dropped my bike off at KFG Racing or as I told my wife "the motorcycle day spa" to have my new Penske shock installed and have them go thru what I was told was a Race Tech front end when I bought the bike although no receipts were provided. While it took all day I did get it back Friday, I did have the front end I was told however the spring was light and since they had cut the spacer during the original install and KFG had no spacer stock there that will have to wait until the next fork service. For those wavering on the Penske or other upgrade shock of your choice I can say my money was well spent, one disappointment was I had spoken with Penske and we had settled in on a 950lb spring as suitable for my weight, two up riding and trailer use, I relayed this to Brissa upon check in however a 900lb spring was installed... I have yet to play with it however was a bit soft on the ride home, not nearly the wallowing whale of the stock shock however. While the had my bike for the day I did go to the Pacific Bonsai in Federal Way which was absolutely amazing if you are into Bonsai.
Excerpt above...

I wanted to update this since any ails have since been more than rectified.

Dave from GP Suspension came by Sunday and wanted to let the FJR Community know he was back and acknowledged some issues that had come up since he had sold the business and the fact that he had been brought back in to get things in order. Now this is my understanding of the situation you may know more or less or have more accurate info but this would be my Readers Digest version.

At Tech Day David made himself available for Q&A and circulated around quite a bit. I pulled him aside and said hey so lets talk about my new shock, I know nothing about it, how to adjust it etc... as we were walking thru pre-load, dampening, ride height, steer in he said you take your tool and rotate this collar...

I had basically picked up my bike as the last customer on Friday and was given a receipt and a thank you. Dave realized I had not gotten the box with the manual nor my old shock back. Now realize Dave is a "back of the house guy" where a "front of the house" person would usually facilitate the here's your manual, do you want your old shock back etc... so I took that opportunity to vent a bit about how I had ordered my shock months ago, discussed the 950 lb spring at that time, as well as I had called two weeks prior to the appointment again verifying there was a 950 spring on hand, I also said I felt I may have payed more than I expected but I did not have my original estimate with me.

Two days later Dave calls me to let me know that I was not given the discount I was told I would get and Brissa would be calling to get my card number to credit the account, further they had ordered a 950lb spring and once it arrived they would drop it in a box with my old shock and ship it to me. He said if I needed help putting the spring in to call his cell. He thought the spring would come in on Tuesday, well it must have as UPS just dropped off just that, old shock, new spring and my manual with the spanner tool and a spare locking screw. So while things started a bit rough I just want to give credit where due, they stepped up to the plate and did what they said they would do, when they said they would do it. Thank you GP Suspension!

Yes. I have to talk to a few of the others that support the event to confirm the date, but most likely it will be October 9th.
Dang. I will be in DEE-troit then.
looks like October 15th is a better day for the core group that helps put on the event. Should have an announcement out later this week.

I like the probable choice of date this year. Since I've taken up smoking, I'll be home that weekend. :)

No, I'm not talking about cigarettes - I'm deer hunting with a smoke belching Muzzleloader this year and that season is earlier. LOL
