Modesto, California has some Honda STs along with some outdated Harleys. I've talked with two cops on two different occasions and both said they would have preferred the FJR.

Dammit I can't inert a link,(need to learn how). But www.dbfd.us will get you to homepage, then click on special teams. It works well for us during special events with associated gridlock. We are the only ones I know of that keeps a dedicated team together in U.S. Have seen one off fire bikes but they are mostly novelty/parade bikes. Between a two person team we are advanced life support capable(except backboards of course) and will stabilize a patient until 4 wheel transport arrives. Mostly bandaid and public relations type duty(pinch me, I'm getting paid!), but we've made a difference in quite a few life or death situations as well. We've got a very progressive chief who got the idea from Tokyo and implemented it here.

All are certified through the police motor course with recert yearly.

Rad hit on the lease deal ($100 not $1) and the dealer resells the bikes for what they can get after one year.

The Woodland police department went to Honda st 1300 this year may want to check with them.

They needed them to chase all those older retired people speeding, you know 28mph in a 25 mph

Got to get a pay raise some how......... weekend ride

King County Washington and Bellevue Washington are both using ST1300s for traffic control (radar) :angry2:
As does Kirkland, Washington. I had a nice long talk with one of the motor cops while I was out walking during lunch. They seem to like it a lot better than the HD, it's cheaper to maintain than the BMW's (duh) and provides a reasonably stable (at non-astronomical speeds) for all the gear/equipment they need.

Might even pull over if this was behind me (just for a peek)

Story in from the Uk:

POLICE chiefs have withdrawn a model of motorbike from service after the death of an officer during training exercise in Bolton.

His death came eight months after a fatal crash when an officer on a similar model was in collision with a lorry in Skelmersdale.

PC Allan Shaw, aged 33, died last month after his Honda ST1300 motorbike struck a stationary lorry in Crompton Way, Astley Bridge.

About 20 of the bikes have been withdrawn from service by Greater Manchester Police while an investigation continues into the death of PC Shaw, a father of one from Ashton-in-Makerfield.

It is understood other police forces have taken similar action. The decision was taken after the Police Federation, which represents rank-and-file officers, urged forces to suspend use of the bike.

PC Shaw was among several motorcycle officers being trained in escorting VIP convoys. He died at the scene.

I see most states in Europe are going or have already gone to FJR's

Cheers
