Can't find forum subject on a police style bike training. Can anyone offer some input on experiences with this style?

I am considering signing up but would consider some real world type to keep the cagers at bay.

Don't use your own bike.

No one else is. It's not as applicable to everyday street riding as you would think.

Police style bike training? Cant say I've heard anything like that before. Must be talkin about defensive manuvering in heavy traffic or something.

You need to talk to those freaks over on the left coast that do that lane splitting stuff...insane!

Which course are your going to take? There is one up in Oregon that is very good and is used by the smaller departments. There was an article in MCN a few months ago. The schools focus on slow speed maneuvers and throttle control. You could also look at Street Masters too. A few on the forum have taken the course and really liked it including myself. They do track exercises and slow speed exercises.

Good luck.

Try these guys

Clicky

They are the only group in this country that does real life, on the road training. Not on closed courses. And they emphasis staying away from the cagers.

Really??? Maybe it's just our lack of closed courses but we have several "real life, on the road" options in Calgary alone.

Right, unless we receintly took you guys on as the 51st State, I believe I'm still correct. I have heard of one other course in the U.S. (mentioned some time ago in MCN) but they only ran on the road for 2-3 hours a day so as not to have a problem with "rider fatigue"

You Kanuckistanians are generally more advanced and sensible than we are for motor vehicle awareness, more like the British.

Hey riders thanks for the info I will investigate as the w.e. looks like a wash or say ice out.

Yes I was talking about the article by Steve Larsen in the MCN from Sept 09 and the training is with their bikes(recommended)https://northwest-motorcycle.com/"[/URL]

They also link to a BMWON article that basically said the same as Steve.
