It would be great if there was an option for Forum members to check off what they have.

What is the most common tire, oil, GPS, radar detector, sliders, bar risers, exhaust, Helmet brand etc.... Each member only gets to ckeck of one item in each catagory and can change it later however can not voe for more than one. For example someone cant go in and pick three different tires brands

This way Forum members could see what is the most popular of these items. I dont want to spend a week figuring out which tires to buy. If I new the most popular tire, hands down, was XYZ I wouldnt waste my time looking.

Add things like most popular online vendor, how many members have each year.

There are some logistical issues. Obviously we dont know that users are really putting down what they have hwoever the forum is pretty big and as more people enter their info the data will provide more and more valueble. I would even make it mandatory for new member to fill it or opt out if they dont have an FJR.

Just a thought.

Waaaaaayyyyy too cumbersome. The information is out there on the forum. Heck, just read the topic headings in the NERPT page.

There is no "consensus" on the forum...that's what makes the bantering and bickering soooo much fun for those who like to "stir-it-up", whoever they may be.

You say To-MAY-toe, I say To-MAH-toe, etc., ad nauseum, ad infinitum.

Way to cumbersome? Wow you dont get it. You would only need to click a button on your choices. This would be less keystrokes than the first sentence in your reply. :assassin:

I understand your point though. Some people love to banter and bicker. Not Me. :yahoo:

And in this case we could find out if more member say To-MAY-toe, or To-MAH-toe correct like me or like you. :clapping:

Yeah, but then all the FJRs would have the same aftermarket (or replacement):

windshields

tires

oil filters

air filters

engine oil

topcases

gps

communication radios

radar detectors

seats

longer passenger pegs

travel pegs

grips

handlebar mods

tank bags

driving lights and brackets

sliders

throttle locks & cruise controls

coffemakers and cup holders (TurboDave)

helmets

riding apparel

riding boots

et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.........(spelled out for you, Hans  )

Where's the fun in that?

I personally like wasting my time at work looking at different types farkles.

Now having a thread for each specific farkle. Say tires. All avon users post their rants and raves about avons. Brigestone users do the same for theirs. Different riders have different styles of what they want, that would be a way to speak their mind in some sort of orderly fashion. Same for seats, top cases, ect.

I see a lot of threads like, whats the best GPS. Then you get a wealth of knowledge of every GPS that everyone has, and mine is better because. Not much order, but that seems to be the way it works. I'm just a new guy throwing my 02cents in.

It would be much easier if there were such a page for farkles BUT that would require someone to monitor each thread. The Admins don't have time to edit every thread nor should we expect them to. That means someone would have to volunteer to do so (Like the "Bin O' Facts" pages). Like most good ideas, the time factor would become unwieldy and the volunteer-in-charge would have to be dedicated, trustworthy and willing to commit to a long term enlistment. For most of the disposable products (tires, oil, filters, etc.) there is already a thread for them right here, and its chock full of opinions.

Otherwise most aftermarket items can be found using the search function (Avon, Metzler, Russell, etc.) and the conversations enjoined.

Still "stirring it up" after all these years.

Well, get to work then. Draft up a page with every brand and type of farkle or part we can put on the FJR and make sure each one has a button we can click or box we can check.

Then send it to the admins for editing.
