Warning: Graphic Images of innocent dead creatures below

I did not notice when this happened, but it must have been yesterday or today. I went out to wash the bike this evening and found a little bird stuck in the fairing.

I extracted it with a screwdriver and:

Apparently, the FJR is NOT environmentally friendly. :(

I was pretty sure I hit a bird the other day when some friends and I were riding. When we stopped, the guy behind me started laughing because the bird hit my slider at a pretty brisk speed. Eventhough I never felt it, the little guy apparently exploded and blew feathers all over. It was a sight to see, or so I was told.

Then the other day I was doing some work on the bike and noticed a lot of bird feathers in the radiator, which would imply that the dum-dum that hit the slider was not the only bird stupid enough to not get out of the way.

The FJR is so fast, it should come with a 'Warning Possible Bird strike' 3 weeks ago I hit a bird and it exploded on my leg, it left a big stain on my pants. And about 2 months ago I almost hit a big ass turkey (those things can't fly for ****) thank the Yammie Gods for good brakes and swerveability..

A good friend was riding through the Central Valley of CA and a Turkey Vulture was feeding on some road kill , and when it heard or saw him it took off. However, it headed straight at him and he hit it in the top of middle of his helmet area. He crashed his Marauder and was in the hospital for several weeks as a result. I now go slow enough to let the big birds fly off before I get too close.

I had one sail over the windscreen and crater itself into my shoulder last summer. Three days of riding in heavy rain finally washed the goo out.

On the way to CFR '09, we came within inches of taking out a very surprised-looking redtail hawk. Now THAT would have been a mess. And seeing as how it was in Banff NP, I'd have probably got a honking big ticket for damaging the wildlife.
