Suffice it to say they don't mix. Here's the remains of the FOD I pulled out of my Azarro Sunday morning in Nephi. A few have opined that is a porcupine and a couple haven't. It's clearly animal and not vegetable or mineral....so unless somebody's an expert.....I'll assume it was a formerly frolicing cavimorph. ;)

The broken nasty fingernail from a TROLL who tried to grab your FJR as you rode on by?

Maybe downn2, rattbag, or sprintST were in the area?

We've got lots of porcupines in our area and my neighbor's dog has quilled his nose THREE friggin times (dumb, dumb, dumb dog). Having gotten up close and personal with those quills I can tell you that your FOD in no way resembles a quill or any of their awesome teeth. Other parts of their anatomy perhaps...

I agree it doesn't look like the classic soda straw quills.

A fellow rider that fancied themselves a bit of an authority on porcupines (and they were Canadian) shared that porcupines have different sets of quills and this was not one of the regular ones that get in dog faces, but another part.

...I also like the troll idea...trying to knock my rear wheel out from under me with a swipe. At 5 a.m. in the pre-dawn hours after riding 22 hours....it's as plausible as anything else. ;)
