This picture was taken May 2003 from the street in front of the gas station at the bottom of the hill looking up the main street. Notice the lack of motorized traffic

That might be mild..... worse this year due to there being only one Friday the 13th.... same next year, only one. Attendance is in the tens of thousands, estimates vary on how many were there this year... but count on minimum 50,000.

2 Years ago (the 13th they sent the Guinness Book of Records for the largest Single Day Motorcycle Event. They stopped counting at 25,000 *BIKES*.

Geebus Cripes! How long did it take to clean up all the spilled oil?

The Exxon Valdez and BP spill couldn't have came close to that mess..

:jester:

You know Steve, I was planning on going to Port Dover that year but I found myself a little tired after riding straight back from Eureka Spring Arkansas.

Maybe if I hadn't been riding with guy who had a VFR and wanting to stop every few miles for gas. What's with that anyhow.

Yes I know I'm just a wimp

Truth be told, we left around 1:30pm and I had a nice air conditioned condo to spend the day night in. I think you made the right choice. I'll go down to the 13th if all the FJR guys go, but its only to see them. I could give two ***** about the rally.

I'm up for this, Scott if you need a bed in the Ottawa area let me know.

Mike can you put me down for some floor space.

Chris

me too me too! Anymore floor room? ( hell I could even camp out in the back)! Mike please?

I'm really going for the ride up and back following Chris and Scott .... :)

This is the second entry in my 2011 FJR calandar

I'm with ya there..... so, having read some of the following posts, I'll throw this out there..... If all interested parties wanted to ride and stay in the western Toronto area, Mississauga/Milton/Burlington, I will volunteer to lead a ride the next morning over parts of the Niagara Peninsula, pass through Port Dover's madding crowd and perhaps stay for a little bit (finding parking will be a chore), carry on around the shore to Turkey Point/Port Rowan, and end up for a nice lunch in Port Burwell (perch & pickerel at the Lighthouse Restaurant & Pub), then head up towards Brantford/Paris/Cambridge (optional early dinner at the 50's Diner in Cambridge), then perhaps stay where you were the night before..... Basically, arrive Thursday nite, ride Friday, head home Saturday........ or something like that....... I'm sure we can stir up some interest from a couple of the local FJRers as well....

I would offer up some accomodation if I could, but the plan is to sell my house and be moving around that time, so I can't really offer much there.

Anyway, something to think about.

Were going to light Mike's snow blower on fire and sit around singing Kumbaya. You sure you want to camp with us?

Actually now that I think of it, I was planning on staying either at my sisters place or with my niece about 15 miles south of Guelph (they live about a block apart). They've got a big hobby farm and regularly use any opportunity to have people drink their faces off and pass out in tents in their backyard. Why I bet we could all get pissed and take our FJR's through African Lion Safari! What fun! It'd be like going to Afreeka! How much fun it would it be to do Dover on the 13 with a raging hangover!

I'll have to drop a few hints. Yes, that is the plan.

All are welcome to stay at our house. I've got a fairly big back yard, so camping is np. Or just bring your camping mattress and grab a chunk of floor. Or if you get here early you can put dibbs on one of the couches. For those not staying at Chez Mabee, we should still coordinate to meet just outside of Dover, so that we can make an impressive showing of our glorious machines. Of course for everyone to park together it would mean we would have to get there early, like 9am at the latest. Working backward, meet outside Dover at 8:30am, leave Chez Mabee at 7:30am.

Man it doesn't take much of an excuse to get a bunch of us together. Scott says he was thinking about checking out a Friday the 13th at Dover and all of sudden we've got a full blown rally happening. Cool!

Had no idea what you Whacky Canucks were talking about, had never heard about the Port Dover M/C Rally. I figured it was snowing and you guys were drunk, again!

But Wowser, that Event is really Huge! Having been to Sturgis Bike Week a few times, it is super similar. Was that RaYzerman19 in the video with the nipple piercings?

Holy Craparoni! I'm in that video! I'm the guy in the black shirt!

"Or if you get here early you can put dibbs on one of the couches" This is my official "Dibb" for a couch.

This little ride seems to have turned into an event. What a great way to start next year's riding season.

(Have you spoken to Dar about all these people crashing at your home yet? )
