Thinking about riding Sunday 10/27. Looks a little like this:

From upstate SC: 28, Warwoman, Lake Rabon, Suches, The new TWO, Tellico, River Road, 165/143, Wayah- more or less.

It would be an easier decision if some body else said "heck yea let's ride".

You should do it! I love that area. It was 27 this morning in Western Ky so I'll just be "thinking" about riding this weekend. It's going to warm up soon though.

Back on topic, good route, but I tried to follow your map and I didn't understand what you have there just south of Tellico Plains. I've ridden there several times but I certainly don't know all the roads. I thought you had to stay on 68 to get to Tellico and there weren't any shortcuts up to the Cherohala? And which road is the new TWO?

https://www.twowheelsofsuches.com/ Used to be Two Wheels Only. I loved to eat there. They were closed for a while and have reopened with a new owner. Maybe somebody here can tell us how the new deal is working out.

The route forks off 68, up Hwy 384 and then parralells Cherohala on River Road. Looks good to me on paper (screen). Sometimes these don't work out so good in real blacktop (or gravel). Again, maybe some one with more local knowledge can keep me out of trouble?

Unless somebody more experienced with that area says otherwise, I'd be cautious of trying to connect the Bald River Falls / River Road to 68 with 384. Google maps won't even let me choose that road as an option. I've been up and down River Road several times on bikes. I even took my cruiser up from a cabin and went trout fishing once. It is a nice view up to bald river falls, but a slow 25-30 mph road. That connection "might" be paved, but I'd bet against it.

And you may be more familiar with the Highlands area than I am, but if not you might want to consider Hwy 28 up from Highlands to Franklin. That was a favorite for us and I want to get back and do that again. I had it planned for this year on the FJR when we drove the BRP, but rain and fog at the beginning pushed us north.

Here is bridal falls on 28 north of Highlands a few years ago.

River road runs out of pavement. you won't be happy on your FJR. Wish I'd seen this earlier, I would have loved to join you. we were running around the same area most of the day today

No worries eFn. This trip succombed to the dreaded "maybe next weekend syndrome". I had to find unhappyfjrness on gravel closer to home.

Give me a shout if you make it over this way. We try to spend at least one day each weekend playing up in the hills.
