bluedevil...some of these guys are just post whores...they really don`t contribute a great volume of value...just posts. I don`t understand it either. Maybe they live their lives vicariously thru this forum. Scary huh!
You say it like it's a bad thing...???
Vicariously?

From Merriam-Webster:

1 a: serving instead of someone or something else b: that has been delegated <vicarious authority>2: performed or suffered by one person as a substitute for another or to the benefit or advantage of another : substitutionary <a vicarious sacrifice>3: experienced or realized through imaginative or sympathetic participation in the experience of another
I believe we are living our lives and our participation here "virtually".

1 : almost entirely : nearly
Many of us have made lasting friendships that have lasted 4 or 5 years (Since some of us have been on the various FJR websites since 2002 and 2003) and continue to add to that sum of "friends". Some of those friendships and acquaintances are strengthened through our conversations and banter here on the internet because of the distances we live from one another (For example: CA to MN, Sacramento to Toronto, etc.)

As to the value of our posting or the information and knowledge we share about our motorcycles (FJRs and others), our riding, our trips and adventures, or about life (and unfortunately, death), grief, tribulation or trial, victory, joy and sorrow in the lives we live will have to be measured by those who are recipients of the information we share. That certainly can't be measured nor should it be qualified by someone outside of those circumstances. That might be a case of rather harsh judgment that certainly is limited by a lack of understanding of the dynamics of interpersonal relationships as they are established and maintained on this website.

IF, in your personal judgment I (or any other member with many posts) should be labeled a "post whore", I suggest you first do a little research into our backgrounds, our participation in FJR events and local rides, the depth of counsel we might give and the wellspring of information about the FJR we share with those who ask and the depth and quality of the friendships spawned around this platform and forum.

Before condemning another member, it might be wise to actually find exactly what and where that member posts and what other functions they serve on this forum, to the FJR community and to their families and their circle of friends rather than one assuming they have insight into another's character, motivations and knowledge base, or how they spend some of their free time.

BUT...that's just IMHO. YMMV.

Maybe you could teach MadMike how to type. Or at least chip in on buying "hooked on phonics"? ;)
How is that for typing, spelling, punctuation and content?

+1 to what madmike said.

I post here needing help or trying to get together for rides or just bein'goofy or helpful. That's just the half of it. The main part is the riding with others, sharing those experiences and kicking back afterwards over a cold beer or soda.

I've met people I consider true friends on this Forum. I enjoy taking taking trips...even more when one of my Forum buds can ride with me. I hurt/grieve when bad things happen to them. It's part of friendship.

Posting here is just a means of helping each other out, posting about new rides...joshing with each other...and ripping on goofballs occasionally who say stupid stuff.

Nothing wrong with that I think.

From the Admin perspective:Seeing that there's only one person with over 10K...this thread could become personal very easily.

PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY.

From the Math perspective:

Days a Member x Posts per Day = Total Posts.

You're a longer member, but a post less than once a day....which is lower than average

1035 x 0.6 = ~900 posts

Myself a longer member as well, but post more than once a day...which is a bit higher than average

1080 x 4.5 = ~4900 posts

Thanks Iggy, but I have a big brother and he needn't stand for me either. I'm a big boy and I can handle myself. ;)

And you are right about the PPD. I'm at 9.6 and change. Perhaps, I might spend oh, I don't know, maybe 10 minutes a day making those posts, but I forget that I know how to read, remember and comprehend, as well as type using more than just a non-opposable thumb - in stark (and shocking) contrast to some here.

As for the OP: You, sir, are lucky you went back and made an edit. Friday is coming and I'm rather bored. Now if you will excuse me, I'm off to search for your one and only invaluable, FJRForum specific, socially redeeming post.

Ta-Ta!

Oh, and I almost forgot... :****:
LOL there I went back and changed it back so you wouldn't be so bored... to bad its now saturday and after shoveling about 100 cubic feet of tree stump grindings into a wheel barrow and removing it from my yard, dumped it in the neighbors!!!!!! they were not home......lol.....

I need to laugh at your wit......

Hmmm, personal attack topic now, after an admin warning....That should earn you some special treatment pretty soon....
