Hi All, sorry if this has been discussed before, I own a 08' and wanted to know how much power I could safely draw out of the alternator for things

like heated clothing etc.. I believe the alternator on the Gen II is 590Watt, but how much of that is needed by the bike, and what is left?

Thanks,

In general, you'll have no issues running heated gear. Gen I guys have to watch their usage a bit more closely, but with a Gen II, you should be fine for common things. The search tool does do wonders on ferreting out such info from here though. Check the FAQ's...

Put a Powerlet "BMW"-style socket on top of the panel right behind the battery. Connect short, fused wires directly to the battery terminals. This by-passes any of the dodgey electrical connectors and ensures you get full power to the heaters. It also provides a handy spot to plug in a battery charger. Works for me, anyway. YRMV.
