For all of you running the power commander on your engine controller....
Has anyone tried to add the "quick shift" shift rod and get the quick shift operational on an FJR?? Dynojet doesn't show this as an available option for the FJR but I assume all power commander modules must have this feature in the controller whether it is used or not and there looks like enough room to install the load cell in the FJR shift rod.

I rode an R1 with the quick shift setup and it is really trick. That would be a very desireable mod for me if it could be made to work on the FJR.
You would be strickly in the "Expirimental" category on this one. They do have a selection of rods to make the system work. They are used in various combinations and you can see them here.

I'll put it on my list to call them on Monday and ask just how much would be involved to figure it out.

I've looked at the rods and parts and it seems easy to make the correct shift rod for the FJR. I just wonder if the PC itself for the FJR will accept the input and work the quick shift function of if it is deleted or disabled in the FJR version of the PC. I assume it is all software doing the PC functions for the quickshift function anyway and that the hardwired input ports are there on all PC's. I sent them an e-mail asking this but haven't heard back. I'll call them too but wondered if anyone had figured this out or tried it themselves before.
And the answer is....

If you get the shifter accessory and make a shift rod, it will work. Dynojet said that the accessory does not fit some bikes, and others, such as the FJR, is seen as not having enough market potential.

Cool. Looks like there is enough real estate to add the shift rod parts. This setup works so nice on other bikes that I would really like to add it to the FJR.
I can ship quickly if you need one.

Only if you can leave it on the porch.....LOL LOL

I sent you a message, BTW. I got the cans in perfect condition. They were on the porch when I got home.

Can you get the quick shift kits, too??

I'm gonna spring for this but have to let my wallet recover a bit first from my latest round of farkling....
Yes, I do sell the kits. You can see them here. When you get ready, lets talk and I'll try and help the best I can. We might get lucky and be able to use existing rods to make it work.

Glad you liked the pipes!

So what's its purpose? Does it auto-shift as you pull in the clutch?
No, you just "toe" the lever and it flys into the next gear. No clutch, no throttle movement. I have a shifter (of a different manufacturer) on my R1. It is awesome! Just hold the throttle open and go for it.

Isnt this what yamaha doing with 06? The clutchless shifter? I think yamaha built the electric shifter with the dynajet idea in mind, and wanted to market it before it becomes standard on the Goldwings, which was the next step to its luxury features.

Not exactly. On the DynoJet shifter, you still have to use the clutch when starting or stopping. No downshifting on the DynoJet or competitive shifters....an upshift only. Yamaha claims they are activating the clutch hydraulically, not so on the aftermarket shifters. The clutch is always engaged.
