Maybe you should have it tuned properly on a dyno. Mine is also stock except for the air box mod & a K&N filter. There was a noticable change (good) in throttle response & smoothed out the low rpms surge.

My gas mileage has always remained consistent & dependent on how aggressive I ride. The highest I get is 50 mpg when I stick to the posted speed limits. Me thinks you may not have the correct map.

Chris D,

Mine has also been pretty bad with the mileage and will give your map idea a try.

(Quite smooth to be sure, however.)

But, umm...

For the negative numbers, did you halve them also, or just leave them alone? i.e. Did -12 become -6, or what?

Thanks!

:)

I have run the PCIII on my 03 for 5+ years now. I took away the low speed surge and when I add the Holeshot cans then the full system it made this bike rock through all ranges of rpm's. I tried generic maps and some resulted in less mpg's. when I added the header I had the bike put on the dyno for a custom map. What a difference. I get 42-44 on the road with out of Ca. gas, as high as 46 during the NAFO trip. I get about 38 in the commute. There are tons of exixting threads on this and the constant is about 10% drop in mileage during normal speeds.

The negative numbers I left alone.

I did have to go back and make some of the positive numbers higher (by adding a 1 or 2) to get the smoothness back in some RPMs ranges. It's going take a while to get it perfect but the main test will be the HWY mileage. If I can't get the Hwy mileage back up to around 37 MPG doing 80 MPH I will most likely take the PC3 off and go back to stock.
