I echo all the sentiments above MM2... good thing the gear did it's job... no telling how much worse it would've been if you'd been in jeans, tennis shoes, and a do-rag. Bummer about them cutting your jacket off... wonder if Cycleport could put it back together again...? Maybe they'd give you a discount on a new one in repayment for your "tested" testimonial...

Heal quickly, and take your medication.

Holy ****!!!

Warchild came by and just informed me of this. Mike, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Heal up buddy! Guys, please keep us informed that aren't there. Also, if anyone knows where I can send a good luck card and some good vibes, please let me know!

Holy ******* ****, this is just no good!!! :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

We'll give you a blast of **** for crashing at a later time, my Brother... for now, just start pounding down gallons of whole milk and start getting those bones on the mend!

And special thanks to exskibum and bluestreak for taking care of one of our own at the scene!!

Not what I wanted to see after a long day of chores. Mike, buddy! That's two strikes! I hope you heal quickly and get back among us soon.

As for visiting, I've been in the horsepistol a couple of times and the last thing I wanted to do is entertain some company. As soon as he's well enough to safely make it home, they'll kick him free. If he's still in there, he needs rest, and not much else. I'll be keeping him in my positive thoughts from a good safe distance.

Regarding the dual sport rides, I think it's a good time to be in a group, or at least a pair, and if you're going to venture off well-traveled roads, seriously consider taking along a satellite phone and GPS. You just never know. Off-road motorcycling should not be done alone, IMHO.

As for the Cycleport jacket being cut off, I'm sure it can be repaired way cheaper than a new one or some new skin costs.

Get well ya big ol' ***** bear!

Those busted ribs just blow Mike - don"t ask me how I know. Follow the experts' advice and give this stuff proper time to heal and rehab or you'll be fighting this for years. All the best from your friends in the great white North - get well soon!

I just learned about this from my daughter who is a nurse at this same hospital in the same ICU unit. Although MM2 is not her patient she will give him some extra attention and TLC! MM2 spoke with Shannon and asked her to call me. Therefore he is in good spirits -- deranged -- but in good spirits. I will stop by and check in on him tomorrow am and pass on your kind words, prayers and thoughts.

Keep the prayers and thoughts coming!

This is very upsetting news about our buddy Mike. He was lucky to have a couple of trusted riding partners there to take care of him. Well done, Rich. When he's better and out of the hospital, I would like to come visit him. Maybe we'll get a ride organized to go visit him and, you know, give him hell. But for now he needs to get better. I'll be thinking about him and sending positive thoughts his way. Hans

Sherri and I just got back from the hospital where we visited Mike.

He was alert and as he said, "I hurt." In addition to the injuries that Rich listed. They found a fracture of C7 and possibly of C1 in the neck, but he has full feeling and movement, so that is looking okay. He also has possible internal bleeding, which they are watching, and bleeding on the right side of the brain that has them wanting to keep him until Tuesday.

While there, we met his lovely daughter, Sabrina, and Ric in Sac's daughter Shannon, who is a nurse in the same ward!

Mike will be fine, at least that is my prayer and opinion.

He has plenty of nearby friends and we'll make sure he is taken care of.

Rich, if you know where they took his bike, please let me know. I can pick it up and save the storage fees.

MM2,

From the other side of the world, you are in our thoughts and prayers. HEal fast and completely, we are looking forwrd to seeing you on the open road soon!

Only know Mike from his many posts. Just have to say that not only does it sound like the ATGAT worked for you, but, in his case, your Guardian Angel was working extra hard. In fact, ATGAAT for you could also mean All The Guardian Angel All The Time. I will be praying for your fast recovery Mike, that you will be totally restored and that any of the things the doctors have seen will be totally healed. You will be back on the road in no time. Keep your faith up and rest.
