ST7317 Super Tech oil filters at WallyWorld, a little over 2 bucks, painted Yamaha Black. Buy them when you pick up your Rotella T.
Maybe it's just me, but I can't get my filter wrench to fit the SuperTech filter. I have one of those metal cap filter wrenches and while the Yam filter fits like it was, well, made for it....the ST filter is a bit too small and slips unless I wrap it with about 6 layers of electrical tape. Even then I had to use a screwdriver to get it off. I'll pay 10 for a filter that fits my wrench.

I totally agree with the Wal-Mart oil, I've used Rotella-T 5w-40 for 50k miles with no issues.

I would not buy Yama lube I believe there are other brands that do a better job and better oil such as mobil1, delvac ,rotella, castrol, just to naamw a few.

I just want to know what a gallon of yamalube should cost. I paid 22.00 for a freeking gallon. I'm thinking about returning it and going to pick up an alternative. I'm not starting another oil thread, I just want to know how bad Yamaha of Louisville is ripping me off?
Yesterday I went out and bought the genuine yammy products for the first oil change on my 07'. Cashier at the counter was a very nice young lady and while she was ringing me up we chatted about the full moon effects on humans including childrens' behavior, adult behavior, spending habits and riding habits. I had 5 quarts of the 20-40 and one pint of final drive oil and my total was $30 and change (filter and washers ordered through U motors). Having read this thread previosly I wondered how their prices compared so when I got home I looked at the lables on the bottles. One quart of the oil was $4.50. This seemed like a decent price as I have seen the FJRgoodies site advertising them for $4.17. Quick math in my head said that the pint of final drive must be about the same as the total with tax was $30. Then I picked up the drive oil and saw the label on it... $28.95! I could not believe it. I then examined my bill and it apears that I was only charged for the drive oil and not for the 20-40. My guess is the chatting distracted the sales person and she just forgot to ring the oil.

+1 on the drive oil being made from endangered or possibly extinct whale sperm (explaining the obscene price).

Genuine yamaha products may be afordable, if the moon is full. :yahoo: :yahoo:

I changed my oil for the first time (300 miles) and used the rotella 15w 40 (about $9 and a Yamaha oil filter ("bargain" at my dealer for $12). I may switch to the Super Tech filter after the first year but don't want any bogus warrantee issues if I don't use the OEM stuff in case something happens...

FWIW, 2 years ago I sized up and bought 3 copper brake line washers to replace the crush washers. These same 3 are still in use, still sealing perfectly, cost a buck and a half total, and will likely outlast the bike. No weird torque-crush issues either, same every time.

I use castrol 20-50 dino when riding in local area.

When I go on a trip I switch to 20-40 castrol full synthectic. this way do not have to worry about an oil

change while I am on my trip. I run 9k before I change it still looks good and performs as stated.

I also use Bosch filters $6.00 #3323. They do not leak around he gasket

I found this today and was kinda surprised.

yamalube

Still not cheap, but this is the cheapest I've ever seen it.

For those of you that want to stick with Yamalube, it might be a good idea to go in with someone, buy it in bulk, and split shipping.

Edit*** I called them to see if they would let me pick up the oil so I didn't have to pay shipping and they said no....

WTF, they are located 30 minutes from my house!!!!

Now that don't make a lick of sense... I've never heard anything but positive things about Derby Cycles.

They don't have a show-room. I think it is just a warehouse at this point, but regardless, I don't know why I can't pick it up from them. Business is business......
