Looking over my receipts from the return trip from NAFO, I noticed that my initial (Golden, Co.) gas receipt has no geographical location printed on it, just a date and time & "Thanks for shopping at Circle K". I was with two other riders, and Skooter saw me in the NAFO parking area 30 minutes prior to my departure, so there is no lack of witnesses.

What should I submit in order to hopefully clear this up, or just not bother if it's gonna be too much trouble?

Toe,

Just checked the IBA website and looks like you should be ok. Says you just need the witness form filled out and the only mention of the gas receipt said that the most important part was that it have the date and time and doesn't mention location. It's worth a try! Good luck and congrats!

You'll probably be OK, however it's one of those that I would have splashed gas from another place with a location just to reduce the risk.

You might also look to see if there's some sort of store number or other data on the receipt...maybe a phone number? If so, you can cross reference with their store locator here. Might even call that store and ask them if there's a way to tell from the receipt the store number....or at least add the address and number to the receipt.

I did this once for a mid-route receipt on a BBG. Maybe overkill, but the sleuthing was fun.

I didn't look at the receipt at the time, as we were planning to go another way and stay overnight, long story....

I looked up the location and added it with the phone number to the receipt. I can probably get info from my bank on where my card was swiped at the time to add credibility.

Now, if I can just get Greg to do a witness form, as the other riders with me are not allowed to be witnesses....

I started an IBA SS1000 by gassing up, and the gas station's pump clock was off by an hour. So then I went to an ATM, and got a withdrawal slip, but it didn't give the location except for the ATM number.

When I got home I had the bank manager write a note to give the IBA the location of the teller machine, along with her contact information if there were any questions.

Sometimes the most difficult step of the journey is the first one.... literally.
