The only ' local' poster that I ever see is FJRPierre, a couple hours away in Ottawa. It would be fun to see if other members wanted to get together for rides, like Bungie & his gang, who are coming out here shortly.

So I looked here in Montreal and there are only a few... but I'm not even on there? Is it possible there are many more like myself but who just don't show-up? Also, in the pic, member Pierre shows-up as living in Terrebonne, but he is placed on the south shore, a good hour's ride from where Terrebonne actually is (see arrow)

roll call: any montreal area riders out there?

or is this something that has to be manually maintained / updated?

LeSkid there was just a post on this a few weeks ago in the board operation part of the forum. As I recall it talked about how to get yourself posted to the member map. Check that out.

Edit - I went and looked for the thread and can't find it. Sorry dude.

Maybe I missed something in your post or maybe you missed something on the Member Map page... Down at the bottom of the page the instructions tell you what you need to do to get added to the map.

Many people are not on the map, many by choice or they just don't care. Giving Ignacio the wrong information will result in your location being incorrect on the map, there are some members that are located whole continents away due to missing a minus sign or typos.

So, everyone -- roll call: any montreal area riders out there?

Most of the "continents away" are banned folks like spammers and other miscreants, kind of symbolic of "Get the hell away from us," I think. I guess I'm referring to those folks with pins in the ocean, and for some reason the Baja Peninsula. (Had to edit, left the second 'n' out of peninsula, which looked rather odd, in a hanging peninsula sort of way.)

But, yes, to the OP, the member map pin is not automatic, you have to have the info in your profile, and the admins have to periodically go through those and manually enter them into the system.

Yup

I missed it, of course. I can add something to your comment then "many by choice or they just don't care". I'll bet a lot aren't there because they never clicked on the member map button to begin with. Beyond that, many were prolly as dumb-assed as me and didn't see the instructions. At least I'm an annoying noob so I bothered to ask the question.

Well, Leskid will soon be on the map! :yahoo:

first, I'd like to thank my family, who have always supported me.....

I'll bet a lot aren't there because they never clicked on the member map button to begin with.
And they missed their first chance when they initially signed up. ;)

Profile & LocationDo the forum a favor and fill out your city, state, and particular year/model of FJR. Often when you ask a question the answer can be dependent on this information.

When you enter your Location please help us by entering it as City, ST. That's your city with the first letter capitalized, a comma, a space, and then the two letter abbreviation for your state or province capitalized. Example: Peoria, IL

Please no periods after the state or spelled out. It helps us place you on the Member Map much more easily.
That they promised to read them....makes for more dogpile Fridays. ;)

3. Send a PM to Ignacio that you've updated your profile
Now, I won't be a stickler today (beyond the dickedly rubbing it in thing) but I can't update it this evening and I can't guarantee I'll remember tomorrow. Your choice. ;)

hosti calisse de tabarnac.... (better left untranslated)

err, what I meant to say is: thank you again, monsieur Ignacio -_-

Ah, he's a ********! Get over it. What else can you say about a Canadian guy whose avatar is a helmet-less rider in sneakers parking a furren bike on the wrong side of the road in front of a kangaroo sign?

At least he rides the model year with the most spectactular best-ever sweetest-looking color ever sprayed onto an FJR.

Whew, I'm taking my meds and going to bed

I got real anxious when one post by Leskid was bracketed by three (3) Admin posts...

whoa nellie...

then when that storm passed, Walter comes up and posts and his last statement got me nauseous...

gotta go...

How nice...

Hestie de câlisse de tabarnac! - ******* ****! <_<

You can't even spell you own cuss words correctly?

Dude, you gotta learn to read-up on people before you start publicly dissing them. Quebec Kangaroos are notoriously aggressive so if you dare stop your bike anywhere NEAR Lac St-Jean (where the road rules are European... other side of the road) you better not be wearing heavy boots, in case you have to run. Quebec kangaroos are known to savagely attack parked bikers, in search of take-out poutine.

and I thought you were cool

Well, you ARE American after all so it's not really your fault. Hestie? wtf is that?

FYI (seriously this time... I wonder if Walter is furiously googling 'Quebec + Kangaroo' right now lol) 99% of traditional french pottie-mouth is all religious in nature.

Hosti = host (as in the little thingies the priest puts in your mouth at communion)

Calisse = the chalice

Tabarnac = the tabarnacle (pie-safe, where the hostis are stored)

and the list goes on & on & on......

so you can liberally mix-up any combination of these to express the desired tone

If blasphemy is a mortal sin, I guess all there's on big-assed quebec section in hell.

At least I complimented your FJR color choice!!!!

Just so we're not gonna start throwing rocks at each other, MISTER Le Skid, you understand that my post was entirely tongue-in-cheek, right? I think so, because your response was pretty funny. Quebec kangaroos! (Edit: no, I didn't bother Googling!!) I wonder what it would take to get some of those in our zoo, here?

One has to wonder... What if said French Quebec guy that is cussing is non religious? I would think that he would implode from being unable to express himself!. :D

Thanks for the laugh! This American is not up on the culture up there. :)
