We have just bought a new laptop for work. It has arrived with Vista installed and although a different format has worked OK with old software upto now (Old version of office etc.).

However....When we tried to load the 'Sage' accounts software it would not allow us to install it at first. When we eventually got it installed it would not let us load the back up discs. We have been on the phone to Sage and they say its the computer/Vista. We are about to get in touch with the supplier. They are PC World who are the countries biggest computer retailer and renowned for a slow technical service.

I thought I would just ask the question on here to see if anyone had a similar experience??

Cheers Graham.

What version of Sage software are you using? I use Sage Mas90, and had to download the Vista "patch" when it became available a few months ago. Sage tech support saying that the OS is to blame sounds wrong to me. All machines with the same version of Vista are identical, unless you have a corrupt version of Vista on your particular machine.

We use Sageline 50. Thanks for that, we didn't know that there was a patch. What is it called?

What kind of errors are you getting? I work in IT and have had alot of problems w/ Vista. It's ok for home, but not in a business situation.

I checked Sageline 50....its not part of Sage Software..sorry about that. The MAS90 program that I use is a Sage Software product, and they put Vista patches out for all their products. I dont know where you would find a patch for your Sageline, other that calling their tech line. Good luck!

Whenever I have problems with an app in Vista, I right-click the launch icon, select properties, find the tab with compatibility, select XP mode and "run as administrator".

Always worked so far, good luck!

I've got 1 older application that you have to 'install' w/ compatibility mode on, and then also 'run' it in compatiblity mode.

Feejer222,

If the above methods do not work, MANY Computer Vendors are offering a Free so called Downgrade from Vista to WinXp Sp2. Many Software vendors are not making Vista Patches for older products... XpSp2 has already been through this fiasco.

Good Luck on your fixing this problem.

Thanks, thats the general synopsis I think. Not had chance today but I will be going back to the shop for a de-tune to XP
